On the way to the library, the nurse had finally stopped talking about the weather and had gotten around to explaining the Institute. She'd told him that little boys weren't born with ears and tails and that people only had one name. His was Jordan Becker, not Loveless. Fighters, Sacrifices, spell battles, Seven Moons - all of it was a delusion. The life he'd been living was a fake.
He almost believed her until he asked her about Seimei.
"Oh, sweetheart, your brother's name wasn't 'Seimei.' You made that up."
No matter what anyone said or did to him, Ritsuka would never and could never believe that Seimei wasn't real. At that moment, he stopped listening to her. She lied. Everything she said was a lie and he hated people who lied to him.
They had just arrived at the doors leading from the patient rooms when Ritsuka heard someone down the hall shrieking about sunlight. He looked in that direction and saw a young man with blond hair push his nurse forward. She was coming back for him and the man looked like a cornered animal about to strike. The situation was about to turn violent and Ritsuka felt his confusion melting into anger. The nurses were only doing their job (no matter how stupid or strange it was) and did not deserve being hurt.
“Hey!” he shouted, running away from his nurse and grabbing the other patient’s arm. “Stop that! What’s wrong with you?!"
