Even distracted as he was, Suzaku remembered to stay on his guard as he passed into the main hallway. He would only be here for a moment, but there could still be a monster lurking in the darkness. And it was so quiet and deserted just now that he would make easy prey.

It was easy to spot the small-statured captain upon entering the main hallway, and Faize made his way over to the boy, stopping when he was within casual speaking distance. Hitsugaya seemed occupied, and Faize knew it was unwise to approach a soldier too abruptly, lest he be perceived as a threat and lashed out at in self-defense.
In all honesty, though, it was still difficult to imagine how one with such a youthful appearance could truly be a high-ranking soldier. He said his age was much greater than it appeared, but that was equally difficult to believe. Regardless, Faize had decided to trust Hitsugaya for now, and he intended to stand by that decision unless he was given any specific reason to distrust the boy.
"Good evening," he greeted him calmly. The bag and the book the boy had with him received a curious look, though Faize refrained from inquiring about them directly. It was likely that Hitsugaya would explain without being asked, and it was also possible that he wouldn't want to do so until all club participants were present, so that he wouldn't need to repeat himself.

This portion of the hallway still wasn't too crowded, though Sora's attention was first drawn to the two redheads who were talking in loud tones. While it seemed like they might attract monsters if they did that, the boy knew that he couldn't really judge them. He sometimes slipped into talking loudly when he got excited, and he still remembered when he'd upset another patient by doing so. It meant that he tried to be careful about it now, but he knew that he still messed up sometimes.
He soon moved his gaze over to another pair, one of which was very familiar. So it was the truth! Hitsugaya was really here! Hanatarou had already confirmed that, but it was a whole other story to see the boy with his own eyes, and Sora quickly trotted over.
As for the green-haired boy, this was the first time Sora had seen him -- a member of Arts and Crafts that he didn't know? Maybe even another shinigami? Either way, Sora made sure to nod politely to the stranger before turning to Hitsugaya.
He was about to greet him normally, but then he remembered that the boy wasn't going to know who he was. "Hey!" he exclaimed. "I'm Sora."

The hall was not yet filled with patients moving out and about, and this Kratos had to be somewhat thankful for: he realized that he had no description available for the members of the team he was joining. That left only one option: search for a group that looked likely.
Another stroke of luck: there was only one group milling around in the hallway - a group of three in fact, meaning that he would be the last to arrive. He made his way over, and it suddenly hit him that all the other members of the team were fairly young - and that he outstripped the tallest of them by around half a foot.
The words 'adult supervision' came to mind.
Kratos walked up as casually as he could and nodded shortly to the group in general. "Evening." He paused and then added, "I'm Kratos."

"Good evening," he said, returning the cordial greeting. Shortly after the words left his mouth, Sora appeared behind Faize; Kratos followed suit. Good. Apparently these people were punctual. It would be nice if they could keep up this pace for the rest of the night.
Nodding, Hitsugaya gave Sora a discreet glance. When Matsumoto had told him about Sora, Hitsugaya had been expecting someone a little more impressive, but he'd withhold any judgments for now. Sora had gotten Renji's approval, and that wasn't an easy feat. Besides, Hitsugaya was painfully aware that his short stature caused people to misconstrue him as some sort of child.
On the other hand, Kratos was a sturdy-looking man. The confident way he moved about this dangerous environment spoke of experience, and his firm muscles told stories of rigorous training. He also had a longsword that he probably knew how to use. The final member of their team appeared to be an all-around solid ally.
"And I'm Hitsugaya Toshiro. Now that we're all here, I'll explain our mission objectives," Hitsugaya said, firmly stepping into a commanding role. The reigns of leadership came easily to him after centuries of practice, and his firm, business-like demeanor should have left no doubt in his comrades that Hitsugaya was more than the child he appeared to be. "I know the Cooking Club has numerous requests for weapons, so tonight, our primary objective is to acquire knives and anything else that may be used as weapons from the kitchen on the second floor."
Pausing for a few moments, he allowed the information to sink in. It wasn't the most glamorous mission, but Hitsugaya knew from his few days here, that going barehanded was nearly tantamount to suicide. There were people with special powers or training that could probably handle themselves in a group, but for the people without either, these makeshift weapons would be needed until proper ones could be acquired.
"Our secondary objective is to find the door that this key unlocks. One of our comrades acquired it from an enemy she felled." Hitsugaya drew said key from his bag and showed it to his team. If an enemy had been carrying it then there was a strong possibility that it guarded something precious. "Are there any questions?"

The next was a taller man, one who appeared to be prepared for battle. It was assuring to see there would be at least two among them who were properly armed. Kratos had an air of strength and discipline about him, and there was little doubt that he knew how to use the weapon he carried.
Faize greeted the two with a nod and a polite smile. "My name is Faize Sheifa Beleth. It is a pleasure to meet both of you."
He listened intently as their objectives were outlined, committing every detail to memory. It seemed simple enough, and was essentially as they had discussed earlier, though the key was certainly a curious item. Without moving, Faize studied the object with his eyes for a moment before responding. "I understand," he said simply.

They all got through their introductions quickly enough, although Kratos might have missed Sora's since he'd given his name before the man had arrived. Sora considered saying it again, but he could always pass it on to him while they were on the move. He smiled and nodded to all three of them in turn (and man, Faize had a long name!) and then focused on Hitsugaya when he started to explain what they would be doing this night.
As he listened, he definitely got the sense that this was the same person, even if he was without his memories. That was comforting and unnerving at the same time, but at least Sora had experienced "remeeting" people a few times now.
Weapon collection was basic enough, but Sora knew that it was very important and so he was going to put his all into it regardless. The bit about the key was a lot more interesting, though. He'd heard about the keys, of course, but this would be his first time searching for the door one belonged to! It sounded like it could be fun, kind of like a treasure hunt. And who knew what might be behind the door once they found it?
After Faize spoke, Sora nodded again in agreement. "Me too!" he said with a small pump of his fist. "Let's go!" It might take them a little longer to get places since they were a larger group, so it was better not to waste any time, right?

Kratos listened carefully as Hitsugaya established their mission. Collecting weapons from the kitchen was straight-forward, but the key...it was a rather blind search if he'd ever seen one. There were numerous unknown doors in the institute; this couldn't be a task that could be completed in just one night.
What they needed, instead of searching for a door, were clues, but that was just as difficult, given how hard information was to come by in the institute.
He glanced briefly at Sora when the boy spoke, a faint smile on his lips. That energy was certainly familiar. The question was, of course, how long would it last? "No questions. Let's get started." Hopefully everything would go smoothly tonight.

"Alright, I'll take the lead. Kratos, you cover the rear," he said. It was only logical that the two people with weapons take up the most dangerous positions. Relying on their powers would leave them tired and vulnerable; they should be used sparingly.
Switching his flashlight on, Hitsugaya decided to abandon their stealth. With their numbers, they were likely to get noticed no matter how hard they tried to conceal themselves.
