When Gale opened his eyes he was completely awake. Habit or instinct, it was hard to say, but with the life he's lead it had been a matter of self preservation. An attack could happen anywhere at any time. None of his tribe truly let their guard down, even in sleep ( ... )

Adam flipped the radio on and light, airy music issued forth from it. He tried turning the dial a few times, but it didn't seem to pick up any other stations - static on all of them. He flipped it back to the music and let it play, hoping a disc jockey or some other form of announcer would come on after a song or two. Not because he was interested in the composer information or even the banal comercials that might air, but because occasionally news reports came through radio stations - especially in case of an emergency. The virus wouldn't have wiped people out immediately, but it wouldn't be long before it began to spread across America, then the world, taking those with powers and without, cleansing like a flood of Biblical proportions ( ... )
