Nightshift 42: Sheriff's Office

[from here]"There's gotta be something here you can use..." Yousuke was a little proud of himself for having thought of this, even though it was possible they wouldn't find anything. It would also be less crowded here, at least for the time being. If they could take care of the zombies here and around it they might be able to hold up in there for ( Read more... )

ZEX was too busy trying to keep his skin in one piece to pay much attention to his surroundings, and staying away from the creature's teeth was getting increasingly difficult. Particularly since they kept increasing in number, which was not good. Too many things grabbing at him- if only he had a proper weapon! That would certainly turn the tide; he doubted even these creatures could withstand a laser shot to the head-

ZEX was too startled to say much of anything when Xigbar grabbed him, instead making a kind of stuttering gasp, and then things shifted in a way that felt reminiscient of jumping into Hyperspace. He certainly hadn't expected anything like that, and he clung onto Xigbar for dear life.

A few moments of quick breathing when it was over, and he didn't seem to be dissolving or turning inside out, or experiencing any of the other horrific symptoms he'd heard about when one didn't jump into Hyperspace correctly. He was, however, conveniently in Xigbar's arms, and at the moment he didn't see any reason to leave them.

"What was that?" Breathless and a bit confused. Calming down a little bit, but there was no harm in staying as close to Xigbar as possible since he was right there and, after all, he felt very nice. He kept his arms around him. "What happened?"

Xigbar grinned down at the Admiral, and really, it was next to impossible to tell how much a sudden warping wore Xigbar out. He was used to it, of course, but still, tugging two people together at once was just a tiny bit difficult. Especially since he'd had to stretch a little to get them all the way through the stone and to the other side.

Still, he thought a 'ta-da!' might not have been too far out of line. They were relatively safe here, and other patients would have to deal with any incoming zombies before they got to Xigbar and ZEX. In other words... for the sake of safety? Mission accomplished, for now.

That, and he finally had someone clinging to him and apparently happy to be there, which was just odd enough to make the Nobody beam a little. "Your Captain an' I have been playin' a bit of a game, with him tryin' to figure out what I am. Like I told you, I'm no human... somethin' like that is easy as pie for me."
