She didn't know what she had been expecting as night fell, but it wasn't this.
The supersoldier couldn't resist the first cry of shock as her ankle was seized from behind, but she clamped down on the second and drove her other foot onto the decaying arm protruding from the ground, snapping it off with a sickening crack. She had lost sight of the other girls in the chaos; Falis she knew could probably fend for herself, judging simply by the way the other girl had moved, and she was sure Senna could as well, but Hokuto was injured and Meche...well, she didn't seem like a trained fighter, that was all.
Weapons. Soma cast about and found a medium-sized branch, but it wasn't good enough. She had to find real weapons. It stung to retreat, but she had long since learned the importance of being prepared enough to take on her enemies. And she was fast. She'd be back soon.
With one last, worried glance at the milling crowds of the undead, Soma ran. If there was one practical thing that had come out of the race this afternoon, it was that she now had a reasonable idea of just how much her speed and her reflexes had been checked. And if she moved fast enough now, she'd be able to get out of the park without having to fight.
