The day had turned out to be pretty pleasant for Sokka, especially as the boy had never seen a whole lot of the things around in the shops. It was too bad that he didn't have any of this world's money, otherwise he would have gone crazy at that gadget shop he stopped at - he had so many ideas now! And with the sun setting and them heading back for the buses, Sokka knew he would just have to write all them down the moment he could get at his journal. Oh, and see if Shinichi could tell the difference between a drawing of a boomerang and a banana. That was going to come first.

Sokka, however, did not make it to the buses or even halfway down the street when something too his mind from journal writing and pictures of weapons-bot-fruit. He had been hurrying just a little to get to the buses and ended up bumping into one of the townspeople on accident, sending him and a purse to the ground.

"Ouch! Whoops, sorry about that," he apologized from the ground, shaking out his head before reaching out to pick up the dropped item, "I should watch where I'm going. Here, let me get that for you..." Just as he grabbed onto what he thought was a woman's bag and got a good feel and look of it, Sokka released it and scooted back a couple of yards. Bags did not feel like that, not even the creepy looking Komodo Rhino purses! And they definitely did not leave something sticky on your palm! Sokka wiped his hand off as quickly as possible on his shirt while the woman, or rather the zombie-thing, bent over to pick up her arm.

Sokka stared with wide eyes, then realized that it wasn't just the woman that was different, even if she was the only one picking up an arm. More of those on the street were strange, and by strange it meant that they looked like they had come straight out of one of Sokka's worst nightmares. He gave his head a shake, stared again, then shook it harder and gave his face a few smacks with his palms. "Wake up, Sokka," he told himself, "There is no way this is real!"

Real or not, the freshly turned zombies were advancing on Sokka.

While the plan was to get to the Sheriff's office and secure it was quickly as possible, Marcus wasn't going to ignore people that obviously needed help. He spotted the kid on the ground and changed course immediately. "Stefan!" He shouted as he went for the kid, speeding up and knocking a female zombie that was picking up it's own arm out of the way. "Take the lead!"

It sounded like the kid was in shock, and in denial of the situation, and that would get him killed. Decaying bodies made sickening sounds as Marcus knocked aside two more that were closing in. Both left rotting flesh on his hands and sleeves, and Marcus really wished he had his costume tonight.

He bent over and picked the kid up, grabbing him beneath his arms and lifting him up without much trouble. Marcus had to shift his grip after that to hold him more securely while he ran. This would slow him down a little bit, but not much. They didn't have far to go. "Don't worry. You'll be safe now."

Oh, of course. They were being heroes tonight, weren't they. Recluse moved to the front, throwing more zombies out of the way, knocking down one in front of him and bringing a boot down hard, feeling the thing's head burst beneath his foot. He kept up the pace, heading for the Sheriff's office.

This was nothing more than mildly bothersome, really, but if these things kept coming, they all might eventually tire. Unfortunately there was another difference between this town and their rather eventful day in Paris: No getaway cars.

Being human introduced Scourge to so many strange and new sensations. Like the way your lungs burned after you'd been running through the cold with a body unused to being slowed by anything short of system failure or a very high wall.

Statesman was out now, helping some weakling of a protoform out of Autobot-alloyed kindness. That could go crash and burn for all he cared, along with the zombies that managed to get their fingers into his shirt before he flung them away.

Scourge shifted as Lord Recluse came past him, sidestepping a crushed head with a repulsed whimper. This wasn't the way to the hardware store either, but...well, breaking from Lord Recluse sounded even more dangerous than going without weaponry.

After one more smacking of his face Sokka was just going to lay back and wait until he finally woke up. Fortunately for him, someone prevented him from doing so by hoisting him up from the ground. "Wha-!? Wha-!?" Sokka stuttered, flailing just a bit from the unexpectedness of it all. First zombies with removable limbs and now he was being picked up like a ball at a game!?

Whatever was wrong with him, Sokka wanted to find out and get it fixed!

The kid's flailing made holding him a little difficult as Marcus shouldered another zombie out of the way to rejoin Stefan and Scourge. Marcus hadn't missed the whimpering sounds Scourge was making. Just where did Stefan find this guy?

Stefan did manage to clear a pretty good path through the zombies, as large and strong as he was. "Just hold still, we'll be there soon," Marcus promised to the still panicked child.

Recluse ignored the rest, shoving zombies out of the way to get to their target, gritting his teeth slightly at the sound of fear from Scourge. If he wasn't supposed to be acting the hero, he might have backhanded the Decepticon to remind him what he should really be terrified of here.
