Day 42: Bus 1

Jun 23, 2009 13:47

After the way night had ended (Miku wasn't sure if they'd ever get the smell of charnel out of her clothes), and morning had returned with its clockwork weirdness. She was hurried onto the bus in her dark red long coat and the dark, knee-length, slightly full dress beneath it. It was surprisingly warm, Miku noted, but that could've just been her ( Read more... )

[for the girlfriend!]

Falis had gotten into an argument with her personal vulture. To be precise, the hunter had tried to pick a fight with the woman. She was pissed off that she'd been stood up by what's-his-ass and had such a boring night. The fog that rolled in and blood that she hadn't shed appearing was just icing on the cake. The moment she had come in bearing some kind of cat-eared, striped monstrosity, Falis had decided she'd rather spend the day sedated and drooling on herself in her room than wear that thing. Fortunate, or unfortunate depending on perspective, her nurse was well accustomed to the hunter's moods and realized the girl's issues before it had escalated into something physical. Taking the horrific thing away, the nurse returned with something Falis would tolerate.

These sports pants were blue and shiny, but she didn't care. They were comfortable and had white stripes up the side. The top was a semi-tight white shirt with a rainbow and and a green smiling dinosaur on it, but it lacked cat ears, so she was okay with it. Hair down, Falis stomped to the buses and found a seat where she could keep an eye out for Hokuto. She was restless, grumpy and generally wanted to bully someone. Clearly, the only thing that would keep her from doing exactly that would be her girlfriend.

Hokuto woke up, dazed, confused, and in a lot of pain; what had happened to her? She remembered a big fight, and slamming into something, but had she been bitten or...? The upper part of her left arm was heavily bandaged, and moving it made her hurt even more.

When her nurse came in with a change of clothes for her, Hokuto's first impulse was pure panic; were they "releasing" her? She thought she recognized that shirt...

After being reassured that today was just the field trip, she managed to get up and get dressed; that took some help, though, because of her arm. In the end, moving it was so painful that she reluctantly agreed to put on a sling to keep her arm as still as possible. At least the dark blue of it sort of matched her pants, and she liked the ruffled pink shirt, even if the sleeves didn't conceal the bulge of her bandage.

She was worried about causing her friends worry, but... injuries happened. So, when she saw Falis, she skipped over to sit with her. "Good morning." Her smile looked a little forced, but she still meant it.

And injured girlfriend at that.

Falis' keen eyes zeroed in on Hokuto's arm instantly. She felt a rush of anger, partially at this place and partially at Senna. Hadn't she told Senna to make sure that Hokuto was kept safe? Or something like that?

"Come here," she ordered, holding her arms open and shifting so her back was against the window. "Let me hold you."

Hokuto smiled more genuinely, and snuggled up to her (carefully). "Not Senna's fault," she murmured. "My shield failed."

...oh, crap, why had she mentioned that? Ugh... her head didn't hurt as badly as the last time she'd had a concussion, but that might not mean much. Either way, she was probably drugged.

Which should make the ride to town SO much fun.

I was only because Hokuto was leaning against the hunter that she felt the rumble in the hunter's chest as Falis silently growled when the shield failing was mentioned. Falis stopped herself as soon as she noticed it and leaned her head back against the window, eyes closed.

"You shouldn't rely on that thing," she stated. A moment later and she ran her fingers through Hokuto's hair. "Anywhere else you hurt and how bad is your arm?"

"I didn't," Hokuto murmured with a sigh. "I don't even know what we were facing... I got thrown, but I don't remember much. My head hurts."

She was pretty sure she'd dreamed about Kakyou again, but somehow she thought she should avoid mentioning that. Especially since she only remembered him screaming her name.

She closed her eyes too, just wanting to relax in her girlfriend's arms for a while. If they fell asleep, all the better.

Falis leaned down and kissed the back of Hokuto's neck before shifting so she could hold the girl more comfortably. She was mostly healed up, but still had to watch her leg as the wound on her thigh still throbbed when she let it sit too long.

"Does anyone you were with last night know what it was?" She paused. "I'd like to know what the fuck I'm going to be killing next. I wish I'd been with you. My night was fucking boring."

"Dunno..." she murmured. "Kinda looked like a shark to me. We didn't get a chance to talk about much. Don't know if this is from a bite or what."

She wished this wasn't a field trip day; staying in bed would have been nice.

"Oh... Senna says we all need to race."

Falis had no idea what a shark was, much less what it looked like. She'd have to get a look at her girl's arm later that night to find out what had caused it. Or talk to Senna.

"Race? What for?"

"Just because." Hokuto giggled a little. "She challenged us right then, but nobody wanted to risk it there."

Maybe she'd be more or less her usual self after lunch? Despite it all, even if she couldn't join the race herself, she definitely wanted to watch. Hey, she was a good cheerleader.

[So sorry, LJ must have eaten the notif.]

That sounded like Senna. Falis snickered a little. "Yeah, not a great fucking idea at the time, but interesting anyways. A much better idea than fucking waiting in the field watching an Old World cyborg prove its a fucking idiot while bothering others."

The hunter leaned her head back and shifted a bit to stretch her leg out. "I need something to do. I can't remember what the hell I did last time I was here--" She cut herself off then as she suddenly remembered; she'd been stalking Yukari, so she had no real idea what to do in this town.

"I'll show you around!" Although Hokuto definitely had a different idea of fun than Falis did. Well, at least they could go out to lunch, and maybe Senna would join them. I wonder if she'd come with me to the salon? It was a good bet Falis still wouldn't.

"Have you been to the Tasty Burger here?"

If Hokuto tried, she might be surprised the things the princess would put up with for her girlfriend. That didn't mean she was going to be suggesting any of them.

"Tasty Burger? What the fuck is that?"

"It's the fast food joint here; the food's really greasy, but that's what makes it taste so good," she said dryly. "Not much nutritional value, but we get healthy food the rest of the week already." Bring on the empty calories!

"And, I can show you a little more technology--if I know how to work all of it." She definitely remembered Artemis having to explain to her what an MP3 player was.

"Fast food that's..." Falis furrowed her brow for a moment, not quite sure how one cooked food fast and still had it edible. "So, it's like bad tavern fair?" She used to eat that stuff all the time - it was cheap.

She then chuckled and ran her fingers through Hokuto's hair again. "This place even too ancient for you?"

akarusa June 29 2009, 03:41:23 UTC
Hokuto laughed. "Exactly!" Right, cheap food was kind of a universal thing.

"No, this place is starting to get too futuristic. The tech I'm used to is from almost twenty years behind what we're seeing. And technology moves really, really fast." She tried to think of some examples, but every single one she came up with would probably be completely beyond Falis. Damn.

She closed her eyes, thinking she wouldn't mind falling asleep in her girl's arms. As long as she didn't get carsick thanks to having hit her head recently, it was all good.
