Tifa knew there was something wrong the minute she stirred from her sleep. She didn't remember going to bed - in fact, the last thing she remembered was hanging up the phone, Cloud having asked her to close up the shop. Blinking and clutching the sheets, she realized with horror somehow she wasn't home anymore.
She sprung out of the bed and looked all around the room (there was an extra bed - someone was sharing it with her?), then down at herself. Even her clothes had been changed without her realizing it. Had she been kidnapped? Where were Marlene and Denzel? If someone had hurt them...
Her head was swirling with questions and scenarios, each worse than the last when a bright eyed woman came into her room.
"Good morning, Jennifer! Are you ready for brunch?" Tifa had no idea what was happening.
"Where am I? Where are Marlene and Denzel?" she demanded. The nurse gave her a look of pity.
"You're in Landel's, dear. We're here to help you get better. Once you do, you'll be able to see your family."
Tifa didn't like the tone in her voice, and all other questions about Gaia got her that same aggravating look of pity. Finally, the nurse stopped her loud protests, telling her there would be time for questions later and that she needed to eat. Tifa was about to open her mouth again, intent on being even louder, but two large men were hovering around the door, having heard what was going on.
"We don't want to have to do anything unpleasant to calm you down, Jennifer. Just come with us."
No, she didn't want to go with them. A part of her was tempted to bum rush the two men and make a run for it, but the rational side of her mind realized she had no idea where she was and probably wouldn't get far running. They seemed to want to avoid confrontation anyway, and they truly believed she was making up everything that had happened in Gaia. They'd apparently never even heard of Shinra.
With that in mind, Tifa sighed and nodded at the nurse, throwing a distrustful glance at the two men. Let them lead her away for now. She was going to make a run for it as soon as she got the chance.
