Night 41: Recreational Field

[From here]Just as in the hallways inside the building, the field looked completely deserted. von Karma saw not a single person nor creature upon it. Far to the northwest was his destination: an old supply shed that contained items that he would find marginally useful to defend himself -- at least until he could acquire something better. von Karma just barely darted out of the path of this reckless driver as he headed for that door. The scorpion attack from last week had been bad enough, but somehow, this attack seemed infinitely worse, especially since there were no other possible targets to distract the offender. No simpering, idiotic detectives to run unwitting interference this time. It was just him and this lunatic, whose road rage rivaled that of the imbecilic motorists he usually encountered on a daily basis in Los Angeles.

Blotting out everything else around him but the insane driver, von Karma continued his mad dash for the door. He felt a whoosh of air just right behind him as his gnarled hands grasped onto the doorknob. There was no time to check for danger inside the building; as soon as the door opened, he rushed inside and slammed it shut behind him.

As he stopped briefly to catch his breath, he thought, Once I escape this hellhole, I shall see to it that that fool gets the book thrown at him for reckless driving. The fines his estate shall pay will undoubtedly resolve the city's financial woes.

Lockdown hit the brakes hard, just within a few feet of the building. Slag, the human got away. This was going to get his pay docked for sure.

Well, at least he'd given the man a good scare. Lockdown just loved seeing fear in others. It excited him, and brought out that natural predatory instinct in him.

The muscle car turned his lights off, drove back to his waiting spot near the edge of the field and went into stealth mode once more, lying in wait for whoever dared to try and cross this field.
