Night 41: M51-60 Hallway

May 30, 2009 15:58

Recluse had used his uneventful dinner as time to hammer out and sharpen a new blade for Scourge, and do maintenance on the rest of his own weapons, then changing into his black Arachnos officer's uniform, ready for the night. Then, it had simply been a matter of waiting, impatiently as always, for the doors to unlock ( Read more... )

Knocking on M53~ clockmongler May 31 2009, 18:14:32 UTC
[Hopping a hallway from here]

All right then, he'd simply find a way once they arrived. He would not sing. They could not force him to.

...Well, that did not take so long, as he soon found M53. X knocked his flashlight against the door, being the gentleman he was. After all, he could not chastise II for never doing so and then barge in himself. It would be hypocritical of him.

Meh. Why did someone have to bother him tonight? Xigbar was of the opinion that he should just go to sleep, perhaps for a night or two, heal up, and then go on from there. That was his thing, after all; get hunting done, enjoy it, then sleep until it was time to do it all over again. Couldn't very well do that with someone knocking on the door, though.

With a sigh, he put his pillow over his head and called out, "Go away, I'm not here!"

It seemed Xigbar had taken the same tactic X had used when he was injured. With a shake of his head and a sigh, Luxord let himself into the room, casually making his way to his downed friend and resting a hand on his shoulder. It was saddening to see the Freeshooter this way, really. X almost empathized with him, had it not been for that pesky "no heart" business or II's own stupidity getting him into this mess.

"Somehow, I do not believe that."

Oh, it was Luxord, huh? Well, Xigbar guessed he could let that go. Just so long as it was the Gambler, that'd be swell. Unless he had stopped by to play a game of cards or something.

While Xigbar didn't raise the pillow or anything, his voice did lighten up a little bit. "Heh, too smart for me, I guess. So what are you doin' here?"

He was ever so tempted to push the pillow further down II's throat. It was too good a position to resist.

Instead, X sat on the side of the bed and looked downward at the other Nobody. "Is it not obviously? I happen to be returning a favor."

"Oh... is that so? What favor is that?" It wasn't like Xigbar kept track of things like that- though he did of other favors that people owed him- and so he finally peeked out from the pillow to blink at Luxord. If the other Nobody was going to try something weird, Xigbar would see it coming.

Luxord chuckled a bit at II's wariness, well founded as it was. He moved a bit closer, running his gloved fingers under the pillow and across the other's cheek with what could have been a disturbing mockery of affection before finally stopping at his neck. "Why, this one, of course." With that, he yanked II up, attempting to drag him off the bed.

Oh no, X had not forgotten what Xigbar had done when he was injured. Revenge was always a dish best served cold and all that nonsense.

"Dude!" That was all the protest Xigbar could muster before he was bodily dragged up from his bed and put on his feet. To an extent; he was rather wobbily at the moment, and it wasn't like he was exactly 'stable' considering the pain he'd gone through. Big ol' bump on his head, and that deep burn across his chest... man, that had stung like anything. Still did, even now, through layers of ointment and bandaging and clothing.

Which meant that he offered a bit of a glare to Luxord. "I'm not going to save you if something comes 'round to take a bite. Ditchin' you at the first sign."

"I would not expect anything less," he laughed out, pulling II's arm over his shoulder and moving his hand from the man's neck to rest against his back for support. They had done this before, hadn't they? All those weeks ago when Luxord had to forcefully drag II to that failed meeting, when VI, V, VII, VIII, XII, and XI were still around. It felt like it had been years ago since he'd seen them, untrue as it was. It was...

He could have sworn he missed them. He never had cared one way or the other about his fellow Organization members, but they were at least familiar; much like a distant family who never cared for one another, but were still driven to watch their joined goal succeed and stay together.

Well, most of them. Every family had its share of bad seeds.

That was all in the past, as it was. Luxord simply shot a smile at his superior and moved to the door.

M53! Demyx had been right; it hadn't been too hard to find, and it was probably a good idea to know Xigbar's room number, anyway. (He'd have to ask Luxord what his was sometime.) He knocked on the door, hoping they hadn't gone anywhere - he wouldn't really put it past them. Or, come to think of it, Luxord's giving him the wrong room number entirely just to mess with him... "Xigbar? Luxord?"

Yeah, he wouldn't, would he? Xigbar grimaced at that, but shrugged his shoulders anyway as Luxord went to cart him along. It wasn't as though he had any particular objections to being carried around, and as long as Luxord knew that he was going to be left behind if something tried to eat them, Xigbar had no complaints.

What he did have to complain about was hearing a very, very familiar voice calling for him. What did it have to be Demyx now, of all times? Xigbar rolled his eye and said, in a stage whisper to Luxord, "Stay quiet and maybe he'll think we're gone."

"Now, now, my friend. He's merely worrying over you. Is it so wrong of him?" Truth be told, X had almost forgotten about Demyx asking what they had planned on doing. Did he even ask to come along? As it was, they were barely five feet from the door and, whether to spite either one of the men (one by being a prick and the other by... being a prick and blatantly going against his wishes), Luxord answered the Nocturne.

...Sort of.

"So sorry, IX; my hands are busy. I couldn't possibly open the door for you." Yes, he knew how strange that sounded. No, he was not going to elaborate.

With a whisper that loud, Demyx could hear Xigbar being a jerk right through the door. He huffed and, ignoring Luxord's comment(it sounded totally suspicious, but so did a lot of things he and Xigbar said, so it probably didn't mean anything), opened the door and put his hands on his hips. "That's what I get for worrying about you," he complained, without any real annoyance. By Nobody standards, that had been pretty tame, anyway; no point even faking much irritation over it. Besides, he was glad to see Xigbar on his feet, even if Luxord was propping him up; hurt pretty bad, then, but not as bad as it could've been. "Going after Sora was really stupid, you know. If even I know it's a bad idea, what's your excuse?"

Of course it was wrong of him! The question was so ridiculous that Xigbar found himself feeling a little light-headed. Perhaps it would have been better if Luxord's hands were busy in other ways; at least that way there'd be a reason to not have to put up with what was going to be a long, drawn-out scolding.

Ugh. "Can't talk," Xigbar groaned with a wide sweep of his arm, "oh, the pain. Bloody murder. X, I don't think I can make it!"

Oh, wonderful. Another ride on the Morality Mobile, then? X had to hold back the roll of his eyes he so wished to do--since when had IX become the Bastion Saint of Kindness and regularly forced them to pretend that they cared? That was more than enough for revoking their "Joining Our Exodus" offer to him, at least for Luxord. With that distracting comment from II, he'd a notion it was the same for him.

Going with the act, however, the Gambler swung around to face Xigbar, effectively blocking IX from seeing him, and began gently lowering him on the bed again. "You could have told me this before, my love. You know I've only your well-being in mind!" It was said in a surprisingly genuine and sweet manner, regardless of whether it actually was or not (learning towards not, as the second IX left, he would be back to dragging II's sorry carcass to the chapel). Question his acting skills, will you, Demyx? Ha.

If they thought they were fooling Demyx, then apparently they'd failed to take into consideration whether their past behavior made their current performance at all believable. Obscured by Luxord, Demyx rolled his eyes. "You could've died, Xigbar," he said, raising his voice slightly to be heard over whatever nonsense Luxord was cooing to him and doing nothing to hide the worry in his voice. "Again. And you could've made Sora start coming after the rest of us, too. I really don't want him deciding Nobodies need to wiped out all over again, all right? It didn't take a whole lot the first time. And you can both ignore me all you want, but I don't think any of us want to die again, right? So I'm not saying anything you shouldn't have thought of yourself."

Watching Luxord fussing over Xigbar, and Xigbar making a fuss, and all of it probably all so they could ignore him - that did settle one thing for Demyx, once and for all. He wasn't going to leave with them. It'd just be this scene, played out over and over again in a hundred different ( ... )
