Day 41: Intercom, Evening

May 25, 2009 05:57

When the intercom's jingle sounded, there seemed to be some kind of tapping in the background noise, like letters being punched into a keyboard. It stopped and the Head Doctor chuckled.

"Hello, everyone! I'm actually taking a break from paperwork for once - everyone needs some recreational time, you know! - and of course, now we can all look ( Read more... )

Ugh. Dahlia was thankful for small miracles. It had been a long day, she was tired of sobbing hysterically on Junpei's shoulder, and dinner by herself (shortly followed by sleeping and not being hanged) sounded wonderful. She played the normal innocent game until her nurse was out of the room, then went to eating her fish with gusto. Much better than prison food. All she needed now was some more lackeys to do what she wanted them to and everything would be perfectly fine with her.

That little 'pen-pal' route sounded like it had some promise, at least with helping in the 'suckering people to her side' department. As long as that stupid, nosy attorney was around, she needed all the help she could get to paint him as the villain he was. What was he thinking, getting in her way again?! Didn't he learn his lesson the first time? Obviously not, the moron.

...She was halfway through with her fish when she finally noticed the second bed in the room. Great. And just when would this cellmate decide to grace her with their company? Hopefully later. She didn't feel like dealing with anyone right now.

Eileen wasn't entirely certain what to expect when she was led back to an entirely different room than the one she'd left that morning. Why did they keep changing rooms? Or was it just standard when new patients were brought in?

She understood it all meant that she wasn't rooming with Renamon anymore. The girl had been nice - and helpful. They hadn't been terribly close, but Eileen liked her. And it was nice, having one stable person she saw and talked with every day.

She was escorted to F34, and she made note of the number. She was ushered in, and gave the red haired woman already inside a friendly nod and a little wave. Obviously, this was her new roommate.

...Of course. Wish for one thing, get the opposite. Whatever.

The second the woman walked into the room, Dahlia had her mask back on, smiling sweetly and giving a wave of her own. "Oh! Hello, miss. My name is Dahlia Hawthorne and... well, I guess we are roommates now. I hope we can get along just fine." She stuck out a hand, waiting for the handshake so she could get back to dinner.

"Hi!" Eileen said in return, cheerily. "I'm Eileen Galvin. It's nice to meet you, Dahlia. That's a really pretty name." Sort of exotic, but one that Eileen swore was familiar. Where had she heard it before? Well, it probably didn't matter. Dahlia seemed perfectly nice, just like everyone else she'd met so far.

"I'm sure we'll get along," she added, before taking her own seat to address her dinner. Damn, another day and she hadn't asked anyone to go with her tonight. Maybe she could find Yohji again....

Minus points for not shaking her hand, no matter how sweet a greeting Eileen gave her. Ignoring her? Dahlia Hawthorne? Was just rude and she immediate didn't like this woman. She brought it back to herself with a tiny pout, but didn't say anything about it. "Thank you."

Still, a sucker with info was still a sucker and Dahlia wouldn't put it past Ms. Sweetheart over there to not fall for the act either. "Excuse me if this sounds rude and intrusive, but... how long have you been here, Ms. Galvin?"

Eileen shrugged. "I don't really know," she admitted, for the second time that day. "A week, probably a little more." She had had a few days of safety (or relative, for this place) then they'd taken her for experiments, and then how long? She couldn't remember, but a little over a week sounded right.

"It's the...funny time, I guess." It was easy to get mixed up.
