Day 41: Women's Showers

May 15, 2009 13:54

Utena was very, very glad that the patients were finally being allowed to go to the showers. Even for a girl more used to sweating than many in her gender, two days without a shower was definitely enough to make her feel stickier and stinkier than she preferred to be. Especially after all the running around and tearing apart of rooms she, Celes and ( Read more... )

What was that guy's problem anyway? What a pain in the ass. At least it had managed to distract her from her problems, but she sure wasn't feeling any better. Besides that, it wasn't like she was the only one in this place with pink hair! There was another girl in the showers already that had it too!

She was a little shy about the group showering, but it didn't bother her much. Sakura had been to onsen before and they had plenty of public baths in Konoha, so it wasn't a big deal. It actually felt really good to be able to clean up.

Kagura's stomach growled as she was led over to showers. The nurse chided her for over-sleeping, but she held back her argument. It wouldn't do a lot of good anyway. She was in a pretty nice mood despite all that though. She and Bridget had managed to get something accomplished and they were going to be working together to help his friend. That alone was enough to keep her feeling motivated.

She was glad the showers were fairly empty and gave the other girls plenty of room as she washed out her hair.

The loud shouting near the entryway was enough to turn a few heads, including Kagura's. She recognized one of the voices straight away and hoped Alita didn't get into too much trouble. She couldn't stand to see her friends hurt or bullied.

"A-Alita-hime," she said quietly. "Is... is everything alright?"

"No," Falis replied. "Fucking vultures have an issue with Hokuto and I showering together since last time Hokuto decided to distract me from my gloom by feeling me up."

Stepping under the spray of the water, Falis closed her eyes. "Fucking bitches. They need to butt out of peoples' relationships. Ain't nobody gonna tell me fucking another girl is wrong."

[i don't really care |D]

Well, breakfast was definitely kind of... depressing, though she didn't regret it. Yukari didn't know how well her words helped Renamon, if they had at all. But if they didn't, hopefully she'll be able to get standing again soon enough; it was difficult-- and a first-- to see her otherwise. As usual, breakfast eventually ended, and the nurses pushed them in opposite directions, insisting it was time she do this and that.

At least showers was something Yukari couldn't say no to. Soon enough the dull, grey uniform was removed, and after grabbing one of the smaller towels she wandered in towards the direction of an open shower head. Glancing by at the nearest figure, she noticed there was Tsubaki; a pleasant sight, given the girl had a cheerful disposition whenever they had talked before.

"Hey," Yukari greeted, giving her a nod in lieu of a wave of her hand. "Mind company?"

[Me neither! XD]It there was one thing Tsubaki missed--in the long, long list of both important and obvious things--it was daily baths, even a daily shower. She was used to living rough in a variety of ways, but here washing was an indulgence. Heck, clean water was a privilege depending on the time of day; she hadn’t forgotten the feel and smell of the mess lurking in the pipes at night ( ... )

"Better," Yukari replied simply, even if it wasn't entirely the truth. The morning hadn't started off too great, but if she could convince herself that it was, perhaps the day would be. She's had good days before-- well, the kind of good you could get here-- so they could definitely happen again.

She focused more in what was in front of her rather than Tsubaki beside her, doing her part in common courtesy. Nothing about this really bothered her, but nobody wanted to be stared at, even if Yukari did notice the other girl was admirably tall and... probably was looked at often, with a figure like that. Turning the shower on, Yukari tested the waters with a hand until it felt comfortable enough to step under. "Mmm," she hummed, clearly pleased with how it felt. "Yeah, definitely better. I feel like I could stand under this forever."

Well, that... had been something. Senna was still shaken up about it, enough to be silent in the follow-the-leader game with the nurse until she realized she wasn't anyway really familiar. "Hey, where...?" But then it was clear. A shower sounded good after spending the majority of the past week outside, and Senna washed herself down, giving extra care to working through her short hair. Even with that, she was done quickly, never being one to really spend time on things like this. She toweled off, got dressed, and marched to the sun room.

She could think later.

[Stealing Utena!]

"Okay, okay!" Hokuto had been hoping the nurses wouldn't bring up what had happened the last time she'd showered; no such luck. Geez, it wasn't like she was stupid enough to molest Falis in here again.

As she got undressed, she noticed a girl with pink hair; wow, was that natural? And she had quite the body... Hokuto bit her lip to keep from laughing. Wow, she hoped none of the staff could read minds.

Maybe it was asking for trouble, but after she grabbed a towel, she went to join the girl who'd caught her eye. "Good morning," she said, a little dryly. Sure, this was a perfectly normal way to start the day... for here.

The showers were a little bit different from the ones back at the school; namely, there weren't any walls between shower heads, leaving every body in the room perfectly visible to everybody else. Still, Utena wasn't terribly fazed. She was used to being in change rooms and communal showers with other girls for gym and school sports clubs. There wasn't anything to get worried about in a situation like that, and she figured that there wouldn't be here either. Hopefully.

After reaching for some shampoo, she turned to face the person who had addressed her. "Morning," she said, giving the other girl a friendly smile, hoping that the smile would be catching. As far as Utena was concerned, it was important to find as many opportunities to keep smiling in a place like Landel's as possible. She was liable to go crazy if she didn't. "Funny place to meet somebody for the first time, isn't it?" she remarked with a chuckle.

Hokuto smiled back; yay, someone else who managed to stay cheerful. "Yeah, I guess," she admitted. Well, she had met Falis in here for the first time, so it worked out!

"Have you been here long?" She didn't remember seeing her before, but so many people came and went that she really couldn't know everyone.

"Oh, I'm Hokuto."

"I'm Utena Tenjou. Nice to meet you, Hokuto," said Utena as she turned on the shower. Then she shook her head, answering, "And no, this is my third day if you don't count the night I woke up during. Still not sure I believe this place, but I'm kind of used to weird stuff, so I guess it's a little easier for me to take than it is for some."

She started lathering the shampoo into her long hair. "How about you? Are you new-ish like me, or a . . . I guess 'veteran' is the right word?" Utena didn't like the idea of anyone having to call themselves a veteran of Landel's, but if there wasn't anything she could do about it, she was glad they were there. Otherwise adjusting would have been a lot harder on new patients like her.
