Memory loss was the first thing Sam latched onto. Dean lost the whole night, then? Looked like, from the way Lelouch said it. It bothered him that Dean's memory had been screwed with, bothered him further that this was what he was counting on, but there was no other way around it. He had no plans to set Dean straight, either. What the hell was he supposed to tell Dean? Fill in the blanks about how Dean had nearly slit his throat and spent half the night digging a fucking grave with his bare hands?

No. Putting the truth out there wouldn't do either of them any good, least of all Dean. There'd been a time when he thought if he'd just told Jessica the truth, nothing would've happened to her, but he realized now that the real answer was that he should've never gotten close to her in the first place. A little too late with Dean, but he'd keep him on the sidelines as much as he could. Given this was Dean they were talking about, asking him to sit it out wasn't gonna work. If he ever let Dean on about Lelouch, Dean would go after him in a heartbeat and Sam wasn't willing to let Dean run headlong into trouble again. Lelouch might not have wanted Dean dead at first, but that was before things had ran off track. Hard to say what the kid had in mind now. Either way, he wasn't risking it.

But he had no plans to correct Lelouch's assumption. Lelouch could've been lying, too, but he doubted it. Too easy to find that out once he saw Dean.

Sam studied him for a second or two. Judging by the question and the way Lelouch had tacked on that bullshit message yesterday, he could've used it as leverage here, but he wasn't interested. This wasn't about making some stupid challenge. It was about Dean. Even if, yeah, on the other hand, trying to get some information out of Lelouch would be useful. If there was one thing he had his mind on next to Dean's deal, it was what the hell all of these kids showing up with powers meant-how they were so similar to his at the same time they were completely different.

But it didn't matter now.

"I don't care what kind of game you and your friend are trying to spin here," he said, trying not to visibly shift to ease the weight off his leg. "I don't care why you're doing it. I don't care how. Don't come near him again."

It didn't go unnoticed, no, but Sam's only interest was making sure Dean didn't get tangled up in this mess again and so he brushed it aside without much consideration.

Of course, Lelouch's word regarding his brother wasn't really worth a whole lot, technically, and he wasn't about to take it at face value, but it would do for now. In all honesty, Lelouch wasn't the biggest problem Sam had. Hell, he wasn't even the second biggest. Besides, his only options were to either keep an eye on him or remove him from the equation altogether, and while Sam wouldn't hesitate if he made an obvious move towards Dean, he wasn't doing that right this moment. And whatever abilities he had aside, Lelouch was still only a kid. It-made a difference. Maybe it shouldn't have, maybe he'd just regret it later like everything else, but it did.

Though whatever Lelouch had in mind, Sam knew he should've tried to stop it, too, before the same thing happened to someone else because it was kind of obvious that Lelouch had no plans to back down when it came to the rest of the patients. But God, one thing at a time. He was barely keeping on top with what was currently happening; as much as he hated to admit it, preemptive strikes were beyond him.

And maybe a part of him was almost too tired to care.

Either way, he was done here. There was nothing else to say and he didn't want to stay too long in case Dean walked in, started to ask what he was doing with Lelouch. He pushed off from the table and left without another word.
