Night 40: M21 - M30 Hallway

Apr 17, 2009 16:59

It had mainly been another waste of a day, but Itachi had learned some information about the outside area. He had been meaning to give it at least a cursory examination at some point, because while he needed to work on regaining his abilities before attempting anything else, he was not going to rely only on others for that sort of information. He ( Read more... )

Suzaku wished he could have had more time to get to know his roommate, if only because someone who had been here so long had to have access to more information, but he welcomed the advent of night nonetheless. Even though he was perfectly capable of defending himself unarmed, he would feel far more comfortable once he had some sort of weapon at hand, whether it was a sword or a baseball bat.

On the other hand, bringing a still-injured Lelouch out to an exposed area like the recreational field before he had the damn bat was asking for trouble. Admittedly he couldn't treat Lelouch like a child, and his Prince would have to go out into the Institute at large at some point if they were going to accomplish anything, but this particular scenario left something to be desired. (And it raised the question of why Suzaku felt the need to protect Lelouch beyond what was absolutely necessary, but he didn't have time to wrestle with that now, and it probably just had to do with knightly honor anyway ( ... )

So he hadn't been moved again. There wasn't any waking up on the floor this time, halfway across the institute. Instead there was that loud thunk of the locks opening. Sanzo was on his feet immediately. That hadn't changed at least. That last intercom message was something else. There was something brewing. The fact that there'd be more of those brainwashed patients roaming the halls was just added crap.

Sanzo wasn't about to wait around and find out. He had some unsettled business to deal with first.

Jiraiya changed into his clothing and left his room. Today had been... less than productive. Even if he had learned that Sasuke was a horrible, horrible liar. Which was amusing, anyways.

What was significantly less amusing was what Kakashi had told him about Naruto. Just one more thing to add to Naruto's growing list of recent psychological traumas. Jiraiya had to check on him to make sure that he was still all right.

Reno slipped out the doors the moment they unlocked, leaving his pipe behind, but taking with him his knife. He had no idea what the hell kind of state Elena would be in right around now. She'd seemed just fine when he'd spoken--well, written, but whatever, details details--to her earlier, but if there was anything this place had taught him, it was that shit always got stirred up at night.

This was pissing him off. It'd been pissing him off all day. Kidnapping and sending monsters running after them during the night was one thing, but after screwing with Rufus and now Elena?

Practicality could go to hell. Burning this place down was really starting to take priority over getting out.

It had happened the second he'd gotten back to his room, the thing he'd been waiting for since yesterday morning: a vision. The fact that it was relatively useless didn't bother him in the least: the cards weren't exactly stacked in his favor, so to speak, but at least he was in the game again.

The vision gave him a general direction, which was out in some hall, somewhere. It also gave him the tentative pressure of a near-future headache, which he ignored. He had no weapons but his fists, but in a little while that wouldn't matter. He took his flashlight and headed out the door.
