Nightshift 39; M35 (Clinic Post)

Mar 07, 2009 09:53

Once the doors unlocked and night began, Tamaki hoped that everyone came to the clinic tonight. He wanted to talk about what had been discussed at lunch. He knew Raine agreed with the idea, that they needed mobile units, and Kratos as well. And while they were currently under-staffed ( Read more... )

[from just outside]She nodded, balancing Shito’s noticeable lack of enthusiasm with her own confidence. "Yes!" There were no promises she could back it up, but Tsubaki couldn’t just let him stand there. What could he be hesitating for? Although he must have had his reasons--and probably reasons that were too private or too persona to share openly with strangers--Tsubaki would rather see he got some medical attention if he needed it, rather than not ( ... )

Shito finally entered the clinic, looking a bit disgruntled at having so much attention potentially drawn to him by Tsubaki's announcement of his needing help. And there were more people in the room than he'd expected this early--would they all be watching if the healing failed and questions started to be asked about why? Ugh.

Too late now, though. Shito held up his right arm, which was in a very obvious cast. That it was broken didn't need to be said, but if someone actually came over to help he would have to explain that there was also damage from the "sleep study" done on him two nights before. Which he didn't really want to talk about. At all. What a fun night this was turning out to be.

"Hello!" Tamaki said, turning a bright smile to the two who had come in. "I'm Suou Tamaki, I'm in charge of our little clinic! How can we be of assistance to you tonight?"

Alright, they were really going to need another room. He knew not all of these people would be staying, but...

Oh, and he needed to speak with Raine and Kratos about lunch, and....

Goodness, there was always so much to do!

My, it really was getting crowded, with more people arriving, and some with injuries… More than that, Tsubaki distinctly felt like she were taking up space, when two minutes ago she hadn’t even know this was a clinic. Was that her roommate over there?

The girl gave a quick bow on reflex. “I’m Nakatsuka Tsubaki. I’m here to meet Ritsuka-san, but my friend…” Were they friends yet? That was a question for later. She looked at Shito and the arm he was holding up, with its milk white cast, before glancing back and forth between the two. “Please let me know if I can do anything. Otherwise, I’ll get out of your way.”

Shito gave Tsubaki just a little bit of a look at the 'friend' comment, but said nothing. Too tired. Not worth it. He gave Suou--was this kid really Japanese, with that hair and those eyes--rather more of a look, though, because that was a bloody stupid question. He had a cast on his arm. This was a clinic. Could maybe the two things in combination have something to do with his presence here?

But, whatever. At this point Shito just wanted to get this over with and leave. "My arm is broken." Obviously. "Do you at least have some pain killers?"

"Yes, we certainly do," Tamaki said, not at all fazed. "I'll just get those for you. I'm afraid with the cast already on, there's very little else we can do for you!" Raine and Tony both seemed busy already, and Tamaki wasn't certain how many people were staying and how many were going.

Oh, he'd heard what they said. Elena had been taken. And there was part of Tamaki that wanted to grab his sword and go charging off into the night to help her. Even if she wasn't his Elena, and even if she didn't remember him....

But he had to fight that. He wasn't really a knight in shining armor, he was a high school kid who ran a clinic. And there were patients (and people) who needed him. So he turned to one of the desks, excusing himself as he tried to reach the pain killers in the extremely cramped room.

"Here we are!" he announced blithely, a small orange prescription bottle in his hand. "Take two of these," he said, popping the top of the high strength Ibuprofen.

She stood with Shito while the blond young man went to get some medication--had they gotten it from upstairs or somehow during one of the nights?--with her makeshift bag held behind her back, content to wait and see if she’d be needed. No one could blame Shito for being a little grim, what with the pain he must be in.

All things considered, she didn’t expect him to ask her for anything, considering she was almost a stranger, at that, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t spend a little time and make sure. Now that some of the room had cleared out, Tsubaki had a better view of who was present, aside from the people who‘d left ahead of her. Yes, she was sure that Reinforce over there with another pale-haired woman. The boy she’d thought was Ritsuka had already gone, and she didn’t know if any of the others were part of the group going upstairs, or just members of the clinic.

It was a disheartening thought that she might be bringing people back here if they succeeded in interrupting the ‘experiments’. Such a broad word for who knew what“ ( ... )

Holding his hand out for the pills, Shito kept his thoughts to himself. It seemed the question of whether a healer here could use their talents on him at all would be moot--either no one was available or everyone was keeping their strength for the new victims of the 'sleep studies' tonight. Well, hopefully Shito could manage to be useful tomorrow night even with his arm still broken. Maybe the pain would have faded enough for him to function even with the cast. His powers would probably still be off-limits, but that only meant it was the same as before the experiment had given him his hand back.

Tsubaki's question took a moment to register, and then Shito glanced at her in faint surprise. She was still hanging around? "... Yeah, I'm fine." He'd be heading back to his room to sleep soon, anyway.

(Sorry for the delay, RL went crazy!)

Tamaki handed over two prescription strength Ibuprofen, smiling.

"These should help!" he was pleased to announce. They had plenty of medication, luckily. He then offered up another dose, wrapped in a bit of gauze. "For later, in case you need it," he explained.

She smiled in the face of Shito’s underwhelming reaction. “Then I should be going.” It looked like she’d been left behind, and she didn’t want to wind up being a burden if Shito was going to be okay on his own. She’d have to check up on him as soon as she could, even if it was only for her own benefit. “Be careful tonight, and I hope I’ll see you later.” To young man who’d helped Shito with his painkillers, Tsubaki gave a small bow of thanks. The fact that there was so little time to properly thank or talk was, unfortunately, something one had to get used to in these kinds of circumstances. “Suou-san.”

Tsubaki turned towards the door, waving at goodbye at the two boys, and when she was on her way out, she gave a third wave for her roommate, in case the woman happened to look over.
