Goosebumps were already starting to form on his hands and neck as he stepped into the walk-in.
Sanzo paused, glancing around. So far it looked clear, but he couldn't be absolutely certain. He pulled the door shut until the latch clicked behind him. At least he could control that entry. He wouldn't have a repeat of last night, with one of the creatures coming up behind him.
He moved further in, coming up to the basement entrance, and knelt. There wasn't any sign that the tile entry to the basement had been disturbed. Judging from the lack of activity back in the kitchen or the Sun Room, there wasn't anyone out yet.
Sanzo breathed out, mist ghosting in the air, as he groped around for the edge of the tile.
