...was that Landel snoring? No matter. Miles clicked on his flashlight - or thought he was. The batteries seemed dead. He cursed to himself, swapping in a fresh set. There. That would be enough light to use for changing into his suit, which he did quickly

"You can meet him yourself, if you want." Not that Asch was ever very good company. Well, maybe he could be. It wasn't as if he didn't have special reason to hate Luke. Anyway, he wouldn't object to Asch making a friend or anything. "He looks like me." Plus, Luke really didn't want his roommate thinking he was insane. Though he was pretty sure that had just been a joke. Probably. For some reason it was a little hard to tell with Jason, and he guessed having a conversation with someone in his head did look a little crazy.
Following his roommate's lead, Luke gathered supplies from his half of the room, which really just meant the heavy light-giving device. There also some kind of fon tech that looked like an intercom, but he hadn't had a chance to inspect it yet, and wasn't going to worry about dragging it around with him. A pen went into his pockets, along with the scraps of maps he had made. Then he turned back to his roommate, and then he looked at the door with a nod. "It's... open now, right?"
According to what everyone had told him, there would be monsters out there. He set his mouth seriously. It was fine, he would just run from any battles. "All right. I'll see you on the second floor later... right?"

Watching Luke ready himself, Jason found his attention drawn to the radio. It didn't strike him as useful but he had seen mention of a voice over it. Still, if he was getting weapons and metal for a custom knife he didn't want to lug around anything he didn't have to.
Nodding at Luke's question, Jason said "It should be. Was last night." He stalked over to test the door handle and just like before it twisted open easily. Turning back to Luke he quirked a half smile at him.
"Yeah, I'll keep an eye out for you when I'm heading to the closet." He'd be on his guard out there anyway. It shouldn't be any problem to spot Luke if he was around.
"Take care of yourself out there." Not that he was particularly attached to Luke after one meeting but he was decent enough on the surface. Besides, if something did happen to him Jason might just find himself with a less accommodating roommate. Which would be a pain in the ass.
Shoving the door open he stepped out into the empty hall, cautiously checking out the area before starting along the corridor without looking back.

It wasn't as if he couldn't do this alone, but Luke was used to working in a group, and with the way even Guy had warned him of how dangerous this place, Luke must have a 'death wish' for doing this alone.
But Jason had been out there already, and didn't seem to hesitate to head out there alone now, and Jason might be a little reckless, but Luke wouldn't guess he had a death wish. So it couldn't be that big a deal. Anyway, there was only one to find out, and he didn't want to keep Anise waiting. Sighing he pushed out the door himself, making sure as it closed behind him that it didn't lock itself again, then he looked around.
There wasn't much to see, though. Certainly no monsters within his very small range of vision. He didn't hear anything, either. Things definitely felt a little more sinister, but that could just be his own nerves.
Feeling around on the item he'd brought out of his room, Luke hit the switch on it... and was nearly blinded as it shined right up into his eyes. "Dammit--" Luke immediately turned the light off again, night vision destroyed by the white spots now flooding his vision. "Stupid," he added with a groan, blinking and waiting for his eyes to adjust again.
