Sheena didn't pay too much attention to the food, though the scent of it made her stomach growl, as she listened to her nurse go on and on and on about how she needed to learn to control her temper. Apparently, she'd broken that 'poor man's' hand. As if the ninja didn't know that; she'd done it on purpose. At least the rest of that particular shift had been nice, using that damn youkai as a pillow.

Actually, she thought as she sat down to eat, that really hadn't been so bad. And she'd finally figured it out, now that the drugs were out of her system. Yukari had been kind of nice. There the ninja had been, completely drugged, quite talkative for as sedated and sleepy as she was and... the youkai hadn't really pressed for any details on specific things. She could have asked so much and Sheena probably would have answered her - especially with the hair stroking and cuddling and all that going on. Somewhere underneath that cunning, manipulative, infuriatingly annoying exterior was something of a softy. Sheena was sure of it.

Not that she'd actually say anything about it. Maybe. For now, at least. No, she'd hold onto that information for use at the opportune moment. Whenever that would present itself.

Once finished with her food, the ninja started on her cards, again only making one out of the new, sturdier playing card material. Sure, she'd tested it out on the youkai the night before, but with rescue happening tonight, she didn't want to rely on something that might not work. As less effective as the paper cards were, they were at least tried and proven.

That one card would be the ace up her sleeve she'd mentioned to Ritsuka.

Well, the afternoon had certainly gone faster than Elena would have expected. It still hurt to move too much, so she'd opted for the sun room instead, and must have dozed off again. It was a little unnerving, sleeping in such an open place when one of her partners wasn't nearby.

They'd changed her bandages before bringing her back to her room, the old ones having finally been soaked through in parts. At least she wasn't really bleeding anymore. It just hurt.

The nurse helped her get situated on the bed before leaving, despite the protests that she could do it herself. And as she picked at her dinner, she glanced over at what her roommate was up to briefly. "Making something?"

Sheena had glanced up when Elena returned to the room, concern in her eyes seeing the woman's injuries, but she'd gone back to her cards. The ninja knew she wouldn't have wanted someone harping on her injuries, so she decided she wouldn't mention them unless Elena did.

"Damnit!" Sheena glared at the card she was working on for a moment after Elena spoke up. With a sigh she crumpled it up and tossed it behind her. It occurred to her then that her roommate might think she'd accidentally caused the ninja to mess up.

"Oh, uh... that wasn't your fault," she said. She then held up her hand, stained in fresh ink, and glared at it. "I swear, these pens are out to get me."

Oh dear.... Whatever she'd been working on apparently hadn't worked out the way Sheena had been hoping. Elena had winced slightly, but relaxed quickly after the reassurance that she hadn't had something to do with it.

"Ew, it sure looks that way. I had that happen on some paperwork that I'd just spent an hour filling all in, and Reno thought it was funny that I had to start out all over from scratch. At least Rude brought over a towel and offered to help me on the missing parts. And ink's almost harder to get out than blood sometimes..."

Oh wait. She hadn't really just said that, had she? Oh great. Now her roommate was probably going to think she was a psychopath or something.

"Er, I mean. At least it felt that way at the time."

"Blood is harder to get out than ink," Sheena replied, pulling another piece of paper out. "Stupid pens."

Then something Elena said dawned on her.

"Hey... you know Rude?"

Elena blinked in confusion for a moment before nodding. "Yes, of course... He's been my partner at work for over a year now before we got stuck here."

She supposed it wasn't impossible for her to know who he was. After all, he'd been leaving lots of questions and notes on the bulletin board.

"I assume we're talking about the same Rude? Tall, dark, quiet, strong attachment to his sunglasses?"

"And plays the piano really well," Sheena replied with a soft smile. "That would be him."

She finished up the one card and waved it lightly in the air to dry. "So you're one of those Turks then?"

"Really? I'll have to ask him about that tonight."

Definitely the same Rude. Not that she really thought that many people were named Rude, of course. But you never knew.

She decided to start working on her pumpkin pie, enjoying the sweet taste.

"Actually yeah... You've heard of us?"

Hopefully Sheena didn't know the details of what she did on a daily basis.

The ninja nodded. "He tried to teach me how to play. I'm... not really good at it." She chuckled, her cheeks coloring a little. "I was a little out of it, too. I broke an asshole's hand today and the nurses sedated me."

Speaking of that asshole, Sheena took the note Spider had written, the one she'd kicked him over, and smoothed it out on the desk. "Oh, I don't know much. I haven't really asked Wutai... I mean Yuffie... much about you all. I gather that she's not terribly fond of your friends."

She honestly hadn't heard anything about Elena being a Turk until now, so as far as she knew Yuffie might not have any issues with the blonde.

Elena smiled a little too, the conversation actually putting her at ease a bit. "I'm sure he deserved it. I've never been sedated here before, but it doesn't look all that fun."

She shifted her pillows a little, struggling to get comfortable. "You know Ninja Gir- er, Yuffie too?" Nodding slightly, she thought back to their previous encounters, trying not to think about what had led her to getting hurt in the first place. Perhaps it was time to talk to her soon.

"They've been Turks for a lot longer than I have, and our groups kind of clashed a little back at home. I don't blame her for not liking them... but they're the only family I've got now, really."

As much as you could call it that. She also knew she was being a little vague, but it was on purpose for once.

"Damn right he did. Asshole's name is Spider Jerusalem. He's fixated on finding out the identity of my... my..." What the hell was Yukari to her anyways? Stalker, pain-in-the-ass... Would she actually call her a friend? No, probably not... yet. She had to stop herself from saying my youkai. Great, Sheena, just great.

"...someone kinda, vaguely, possibly, maybe important yet really irritating and... kinda okay to be around." A pause. "You know, if I'm bored. Or something."

Sheena sighed and set the offending pen down, examining her ink-stained fingers. "And, yeah, Yuffie's my friend. We're sorta rivals too, being ninja and all. But she's fun."

Elena kind of wondered if the person she was talking about was actually closer than she was willing to let on. But maybe she hadn't realized it yet. She resisted smiling at the explanation, instead settling back more into her bedding. Her wounds were starting to hurt. "Mmn, this sucks."

"I think Yuffie's good at making people her enemies. But she's a good person overall, I think."

"Yeah, I think so too. Not many can handle a ninja's ego," Sheena replied.

Despite what she'd decided earlier about Elena and the woman's wounds, Sheena couldn't help the look of concern. "Hey, you need anything of whatnot since I'm here and all..."

"Oh.... Thanks, but I'll be fine. It's kinda my own fault anyways, y'know? I'm just not going to do anything big tonight, is all."

Elena did appreciate the gesture of concern, though, if that's what it was.

"Rude said they might go raid the doctor's offices and try to find some booze. It'd be kind of nice for a change..."

"Why am I not surprised?" Rude seemed like the kind of guy that would need a drink after a few nights here.

"So... what's his eyes look like? I wanted to see, but he wouldn't let me." It was kinda weird, really.

"He's kind of weird about that, yeah..."

Before Elena could continue, a nurse came back into the room. Without explanation, she was "helped" to stand up out of bed, and started to be lead towards the door.

"Wait, what's going on?"

"You'll be coming with me for a while, for your treatment."

Elena blinked in confusion. "But they already changed my bandages... wait..!"

She glanced back to Sheena with a slightly panicked look, but she was out the door and it quickly closed behind her before she could protest. Nothing was remembered after that.
