[ From here.Sousuke was a little surprised at how easy opening the gate had been, but then again, hopping over walls wasn't all that difficult either. But with Miku clinging to his back, it was preferable that they walk out instead of do any climbing ( Read more... )

That seemed far too easy, Allelujah couldn't help but think when they walked through the gate and onto the road. Everyone made such a huge deal about getting outside, that it seemed like there must be a catch somewhere. Then again, he wasn't about to drop his guard anyway, and the further they got with it being easy, the better.

The visibility was appalling though, the fog coming in thickly, even as he took a few steps forward. They'd have trouble keeping to the road at this rate, and Allelujah had never even tried working in forests or the open countryside before. He was used to warfare between mobile suits, not ground fighting.

He was glad that Sousuke seemed to have a better idea than he did and moved towards him. "We'll need to stay close," he said quietly, the fog muffling his voice. "It's too easy to get seperated."

Sousuke nodded and took hold of Allelujah's sleeve, still keeping a hold on Miku. "We won't be separated this way, even if the fog gets especially thick."

The sergeant looked around in the gloom, trying to see if he could see anything through it. However, he wasn't able to even see the road in front of him. He wondered if they were even going in the right direction--he was so disoriented.

"Are you alright, Miku?" he asked softly as they continued to walk.

"I'm fine," Miku replied in his ear. "Are you sure it's okay to carry me?" It seemed that they would be traveling for a long time tonight, and Miku certainly didn't want to be more trouble than she was worth.

He was a little surprised when Sousuke grabbed hold of his sleep, the movement startling him, but he relaxed after a moment, nodding in response. It made sense as a method of keeping them together, even if it might make it a little more awkward to fight if they were attacked. The fog made it impossible to tell what direction they were heading in, whether towards the trees or along the road and the slippers that he was wearing made no noise on the ground to help them tell what kind of surface it was. It was a little like being in space, he thought, utterly directionless without technology, no back or forwards or up or down, nothing with which to gauge distance. They might as well have been standing still.

He focussed on the soft sound of Miku and Sousuke talking to keep his thoughts from completely drifting.
