[From here.]Soubi was certain he knew the way now. He'd come along here with Ritsuka, alone....teasing the boy with that can. Oh yes. He'd enjoyed that, though they'd had discussions about things Soubi would rather have hidden from. But you can't win them all ( Read more... )

It was completely dark when they approached the hallway, but it didn't look like there was anything out here just yet. Hopefully it would remain that way. Probably depended on whether or not the Janitor's closet was locked or not or if they'd have to knock it down.

"Should be that one," Allen pointed out.

It really hadn't taken them long at all to get here: that's what was running through Sora's head as he stopped in front of the door Allen had pointed out. And when he thought about it, getting around the institute wasn't that hard if you weren't held up by anything. It was just that more often than not something came out of the shadows to attack, and that was what slowed them down.

Figuring that he shouldn't jinx them, Sora decided not to say any of that out loud. Instead, he reached forward and grabbed the doorknob, not too surprised to see that it was locked. He couldn't summon his Keyblade for something like this, so he was just going to have to tackle it like he always did.

Sora made a motion with his hand to indicate that Allen should get out of the way. "Here goes," he said as he backed up to get a running start.

When they reached the door and Sora started backing up, it took Allen a moment to realize that he meant to take a go at it. While he wasn't sure how good an idea it might be, he didn't really have a better one to contribute, so he made a hasty retreat.

Once Allen was safely out of the way (and hadn't insisted on doing it himself, surprisingly enough), Sora nodded to himself, clenching his fists for a moment as he got ready to throw himself at the door.

Without further ado, he raced at it, and once he had almost reached it, he half-jumped and shoved his side against it. It hurt - it always did - and the lock budged, but didn't break.

Sora took a few shaky steps back and eyed his "opponent" for a moment. The locks never broke on the first try, though, so he was prepared to go at it again.

Allen winced as Sora hit the door and bounced back. It wasn't going to be so easy he supposed. But he'd agreed to come here and help Sora, not to just sit and watch while one did all the work.

"H-hey!" he called out, hopefully before Sora took another bound toward the locked door. "I can help too, you don't have to do it by yourself." Allen hurried over to assist, hoping Sora wouldn't be so stubborn as to not take him up on the offer.

[from here]

Indy rounded the corner and saw two scruffy-haired teenage boys by the janitor's closet door--the one they needed to get through. One of them had evidently just done a flying leap into the door. It hadn't been successful; he looked like he was getting ready to give it another shot.

He felt good about this for two reasons. The first was that the kids didn't look like the types to try to kill them. The second was that their trying to break down the door meant that they were the first ones here, which meant that he and Pierson would have the run of the toolkit, aside from whatever the two boys needed.

He rubbed his left shoulder instinctively. This wouldn't be fun, but you did what you had to. "Get ready for some noise," he muttered to Pierson, who would doubtless be just as amused by Indy's door-busting performance as he had been last night. Well, Indy would damn well be happy to stop hurling himself at doors as soon as they found a better--make that any--alternative. At least this time the door was demonstrably locked ( ... )

Methos swallowed a snort of amusement as his roommate headed over to help the one boy with the door. The boy's companion seemed to be of that inclination as well, and Methos had the brief mental image of all three of them trying in unison, tumbling through Three Stooges like once the door gave way under their combined weight.

He didn't offer his own aid in the endeavor; if three people to a single door was a little bit of overkill, then four would be absolutely ridiculous. He halted his approach several feet back to leave more than enough room, clasping his own makeshift weapon loosely, as though not quite sure what to do with it. From this remove he studied the two teens. Neither looked very threatening upon initial assessment, though he didn't take that as reason enough to drop his guard. The same could have been said of him, and had been on more than one occasion.

Sora was about to suggest that he and Allen rush at the door together, but then he was distracted by the sound of nearby footsteps. He glanced over and saw two older men approaching them. Oh no... This was what he had been worried about ( ... )

Allen was more than ready to double team the door, but before they could get far, another couple of people arrived, intent on going the very same way. At least one of them offered to help, though now there were so many it might get crowded if they all ran at the door at once.

"Um... I can give it a try this time Sora, along with ah... this gentleman here; then neither one of us has to push ourselves too hard yet." There weren't even any monsters out so far and it was always a good idea to save one's strength.

"Besides," he tried offering a smile, even if it was only a small one, "wouldn't want you to have all the fun." He glanced at the man who'd offered to help, tilting his head toward the door as if to ask him to join in, then readied himself once again to make a run at it.

As admirable as the kids' enthusiasm was, bouncing off the door like tennis balls didn't seem like an efficient use of their time to Indy. "Look," he said, accepting the white-haired (crazy kids) boy's invitation. "You can keep throwing yourself at the door, and you'll probably get it down eventually, but you'll also bang yourself up before you even know what's on the other side ( ... )

As the other three made ready to batter down the door by their own methods, Methos turned to get eyes on the hall extending back behind them. With the collective noise they were making, he didn't want to take the chance of leaving them all completely exposed if something heard and decided the voices and the thumping sounded like dinner. He didn't want to risk turning his back on the two teens and having them prove hostile, either, so while his attention centered on the hall, he kept track of the other three out of the very corner of his vision.

He thought he spied Jones shooting him a look, and contrived to look innocent and a little sheepish, though he didn't spare enough attention to look back to meet the other man's gaze. If his roommate had decided he was incapable instead of indifferent, he wasn't going to say otherwise and destabilize the image he'd already projected. Even if Jones' idea of what an academic was seemed broader than the usual definition, it would raise questions.

Sora had been more than ready to allow Allen and the nice man to take their turn on the door, but he blinked in bewilderment when the stranger started to give them a lesson on how this was done. If the man had been using a more condescending tone, it might have annoyed Sora, but instead he made sure to pay attention, if only out of courtesy ( ... )

Allen did have to wonder why the older gentleman was taking time to teach them how to break down doors. He'd done it a few times before, and back home it really wasn't even worth worrying about! The man did seem nice enough though, so Allen didn't want to seem unappreciative.

"Oh, yes, thank you sir," he nodded at the explanation and with Sora's offer to let him finish things, he supposed he ought to hurry and get on with it. No use keeping everyone waiting.
