He wouldn't let himself fall into a false sense of security for that reason alone and kept his guard up as he moved

Too slow.
He'd known the moment his eyes had snapped shut. Just that moment's hesitation had cost him. He couldn't help the two, couldn't get to the door, and couldn't even escape the ghost's touch.
Though he didn't actually feel when her fingers slid along his back. What he ended up feeling was far worse for not only the pain that shot through him, but the images that came with it. He didn't understand them or recognize anything, but then again, focusing had become too difficult. All he knew was that it wasn't him. This was someone else's pain, someone else's memories, only he was the one seeing and experiencing them.
He collapsed to the floor, trying to breathe but unable to, wanting to screaming but refusing to. He couldn't even get the breath to swear! A hand moved to pull at his neck where he could feel the rope, but it touched nothing. It was there, he could feel it chocking him, but it wasn't real. Then this was just in his head?!
Dammit! What anger he couldn't express died in his mind only when his world began to go black. He remained tense still a few moments after his eyes closed, but soon enough he was still, breathing again but slowly.
[ooc: out for a bit, but not dead]

Ururu raced as quickly as she could to where Kurogane was. She didn't know much about healing (not like Orihime-san did), but she did know how to make sure someone was alive. And that was the first thing the little girl did, kneeling by the large man to listen to his heartbeat, and his breathing.
He was breathing. His heart was beating, and Ururu almost cried then out of sheer relief.
But she couldn't cry yet, even though tears started to well up in her eyes. They were all still in danger, because the ghost was still there, the enemy could still hurt them. Ururu picked up one of Kurogane's arms to hook over her body, scooting down near his shoulder, and tried to lift the man up. It was hard though, because Ururu wasn't as strong as she should be, and the little girl struggled to get to her feet while supporting Kurogane's weight.
"Sh-Shiki-san," The little girl was sure Shiki had followed. "I need help, please."

With that, she gave the little girl a nod, and began moving slowly. Hopefully, the shadows and the others in the room would give them enough cover to make it out safely.
