For how long he'd been missing, and how long his room had been empty, Ashton had to be gone. Holding out hope for anything else would just be a source of constant disappointment.
It occurred to Dias, after a moment, that he and Lust had even more in common than they had before - both of them had lost men they'd cared for to this place. It made it a bit easier to forgive her for bringing up a painful subject, and prodded him into saying, "If you're going to the basement, I could offer some company."

"I'm sorry," she said, knowing full well what it was to lose someone in this place. And not even to death, which she suspected would be better. It was far easier to move on from losing a loved one to death rather than the unknown.
"The basement?" she cocked her head once more. "I wasn't planning on going anywhere in particular. Though I was on my way to the basement last night when Luxord became distracted. We never made it." They'd made a detour to the clinic, that thankfully hadn't resulted in anyone getting killed.
She had no quarrel with exploring this supposedly deadly area.

Still, he was moderately pleased by the prospect of traveling with someone like Lust, who had always given him the impression of being both intelligent and capable enough to keep pace with him. There was no question of her slowing him down - in fact, having her as a companion might simplify any unforeseen obstacles in their path. Aside from Ashton and Claude - and, formerly, Scar - it was rare for him to consider a companion an asset.
"That means going through the sun room," he observed, gesturing to the nearby door. "Which is rarely easy." He said it less because he didn't think Lust already knew, but simply so she could make any preparations she might need to before they went in.
[Since there's a fight going on in the sun room, Fey, we may want to discuss whether or not Dias and Lust will get involved or not before we send them in. ♥]

"Age before beauty, as they say." She had no desire to walk in first, unknowing exactly what was in there. Besides, she imagined Dias was better equipped to handle an initial attack than she was.
