Nightshift 37: F1-F10 Hallway

Dec 08, 2008 12:51

As far as dinner shifts went, that one had actually been enjoyable. It had been nice to have somebody to talk to, to show off for, and Sen hadn’t seemed to mind all that much. Except for that one teeny-tiny little slip, just after Yuffie’d revealed that she was a ninja…

Night came and Kagura waited for the visitors to come. She pulled her staff out from under the bed and tucked a pillowcase into her waistband. They'd have to carry things somehow and if they needed bandages, they would do in a pinch.

Next, all that was left to do was sit patiently, and wait.

(From here. Without the fail?)

Bridget was still a little nervous about leaving Roger in his room, but he wanted to have his hands (or hand) free to help.

Ah, here it was. Smiling, glad to have made it here without getting lost or into trouble. He knocked on the door.

Kagura was to the door in a matter of moments when she heard the knock. She wasn't sure who to expect first, Bridget or Mello, but she supposed it didn't matter too much. She opened the door to let in the visitor, smiling when she saw it was Bridget.

"Hi," she still hadn't gotten over some of her shyness. "Did you want to come in for a bit?"

Bridget smiled, tilting his head. "Is anyone else coming along?" If so, then,of course, he'd wait with Kagura. Otherwise, they should get going as soon as possible.

She opened the door a little wider, an unspoken invitation should he want to come in. "Ah... n-no, not coming with us. Someone was going to drop off some things. I... I found a lot of strange items in the town we ran to," she explained, opting not to mention that it was because Bridget had been bleeding to death and she'd been in dire need of clothing.

"Mello-san asked if he could analyze it all and then return them. I thought he might drop them off before we left, but if he's not here yet, maybe I can just leave him a note."

Bridget stepped in the doorway, not wanting to stand with his back exposed to the halls and smiled.

"Well, if you'd like, we canwait here a while for him, or leave a note. It's up to you." The reminder of the town made his arms itch, but he ignored it save for flexinghis weaker hand.

"Did he say why he wanted to analyze it?"

"Mm..." she wavered for a moment before going to the desk for pen and paper. "We can just leave a note then I think. I hope Mello-san is okay."

She scribbled out a brief note:
Mello-san,
Sorry we couldn't stay, but if you don't mind just leaving the items here, I'll hide them in the morning. I hope they were helpful and hope you're doing alright.
~Kagura

As for why he might want to analyze the items, Kagura didn't know for sure, but, "Mm... I think he said it would just help him to know more about where we are and maybe about some things that went on here. That town was... was really scary and so... I thought maybe it would help to figure that out."

Bridget smiled and nodded. "Okay. That sounds like a good idea." He looked around the room, wondering in an absent way what Kagura's own room and home was like. She probably had some stuffed toys. The thought made him happy.

Turning back when she was finished, he frowned. "I'm sorry that we didn't get anything done that night," he said. He felt terrible about being such a burden. "But," he added, trying to cheer up. "Tonight will be better. Are you ready to go?"

"Don't be," Kagura assured him, leaving the note on a chair that she set squarely in sight if a person were to enter the room. There was no tape, so she couldn't just stick it to the door as she'd like to. Oh well. Mello would understand, right?

"You saved me and you ran all the way into town by yourself. Don't beat yourself up about it." She picked up her staff, sending him a reassuring smile. For a moment, she couldn't help but think that Bridget was not at all like Kyo. But at the same time, she realized, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

Bridget blushed slightly at the reminder, but he smiled and shook his head. "Well, let's try to not do that this time," he teased.

Heading towards the door, he opened it and looked upanddown the hallway, just in case before turning back to Kagura. "Do you know where to go Miss Sohma?" Bridget didn't have a clue, so he hoped she did.

"O-oh! I almost forgot!" she startled when Bridget asked her where to go. She hurried over to the desk drawer and pulled out a map she'd picked up from the bulletin.

"I saw this today um... I think it says there's a pharmacy on the second floor. That's probably the best place for medicine, right?" She shuffled through the papers for a moment before showing them to Bridget. "Do you think we can find it okay?"

Bridget leaned forward slightly to look at the maps. "I think we can get there with no problems," he said smiling cheerfully. "That sounds like the best place to go too."

He still wasn't quite sure where it was, but it couldn't be too hard to find with a map, right?

"Mm, I'm glad."

Kagura smiled quietly, glad the idea hadn't sounded good just to her. She folded the map up and tucked it into her waistband before grabbing her things and heading out the door.
