Day 37: Arts and Crafts Room

Dec 02, 2008 08:46

Kurogane was very much not the creative type, so naturally the nurse didn't care for his protests of having an "Arts and Crafts" time and forced him into the room ( Read more... )

Yuuhi came away from lunch somewhat shaken and bewildered by the conversation, but still smiling as always. Besides, it would be funny when and if Ururu actually asked Kurogane some of the questions. Let him be in the hot seat for a bit!

The ninja was easy to spot when he reached the arts and crafts room, and it was hard to decide just what project he wanted to work on. After some thinking, he picked up some of the play dough and brought it over to the table.

"Kuro-rin, I found you~!" he smiled as he sat down.

"Nnnn..." Kurogane had closed his eyes in hopes of a quick rest when a certain voice caught in his ears. He only opened one eye to look across at the magician. Couldn't he go bother someone else for a change?

"Nobody likes a grumbly ninja," he pouted, setting a lump of the clay in front of his companion.

"You said you'd see me later and it's later!" he explained, voice light and at least a little bit energetic. There was some glitter on the table too, which didn't escape his attention. Without a moment's hesitation he started kneading it into the dough, making it much sparklier.

Right, he had said that on the board. That didn't mean Kurogane had expected the magician would come to him. Not willingly. Especially not with the particular matter that had been expressed on the board.

He opened his eyes completely and straightened out of his relaxed position a bit. "All right then. How much did you tell her?" he asked. The matter on the board came first since that was something they needed to discuss before Ururu decided to possibly act on whatever Fai had told her.

There were other things that needed discussing as well though, things both from the board and away - tonight being the big one.

"I just answered her questions Kuro-ki-kun," Yuuhi replied with a shrug, his glitter ball now complete. Now what to make out of it? Something cute, of course. He pulled a piece away for extras while he started shaping the rest.

"Why do you need to ask some too? Now, I don't know all the different kinds, but I'll see what I can tell you..."

He tried not to pay too much attention to the sparkling thing the other seemed to be moulding and focused on the man instead. "That's not what I mean and you know it," he growled, mood nowhere near patient enough to tolerate Fai's roundabout way of answering, "She's too young to be getting answers, magician. And I don't trust you to have given her any either." Because there was honestly no telling what Fai might or might not have told the girl.

The comment about kinds he wasn't able to ignore, "I already know enough," he gritted out in restraint, "This isn't about me either."

With one of the smaller pieces, he molded a little glittery heart and set it down next to the pile of clay Kurogane had been ignoring. "Old enough, not old enough, I think if she's mature enough to handle all the scary monsters and violence here, she's probably okay with handling hearing a little bit about sex."

He rolled out a tiny ball of clay and started pinching out little round pieces to press around as flower petals. After he got a few more on there it might actually start to look like a flower. "Besides, it's not like it's a bad thing, right? It's a way for people to show they care about each other and all that stuff! But don't worry, I made sure she knows that it's not something kids need to be trying either."

"That doesn't mean you gotta tell her," he said, now letting his eyes wander to what Fai was doing on the table. Whatever he was doing, it was distracting. "It's bad if she's thinking about someone in that way, you idiot."

Fai had to have been a kid once, and practically still was in many regards, so he should know that kids liked to try out what they didn't know or understand all the way. Kurogane knew it. He'd made his own mistakes when younger, thankfully none in that area.

Apparently tough, Fai had explained enough to keep the girl from being a stupid kid, but that didn't ensure anything. Kurogane supposed that because she was a girl he really didn't know how she might be thinking, but that didn't make him feel any better about it. "As long as you made sure..." he eventually gave it up. If anything happened it was Fai's fault, so he could be the one to deal with it.

He hated falling back on the 'if i hadn't someone else would have,' but in this case it held true. If she was curious, there were plenty of other people here that would explain things, probably in much more detail than she wanted, but who knew for sure?

"It wasn't about someone," he laughed quietly to himself, "it was research for her friend. And his older friends are going to explain things for him too. So it's fine, you worry too much Kuro-papa."

The petals around the flower were growing larger and took more shaping than before, but he had fun squishing the clay into the right shapes. "You make it sound like it's all so terrible."

"That thing on the board, right?" he asked, remembering. For some reason he'd overlooked that detail in favor of finding out what Fai was filling Ururu's head with.

His eyes drifted away, and he gave a quick "humph" when Fai attempted to scold him for making a big deal out of it. All he'd wanted to know was what Fai had been telling the girl. What was so wrong about that? "Since I'm stuck with her tonight, I can ask what I want," he eventually defended, bringing up the matter of his "assignment" to watch Ururu and another that night.

"Mm hmm," Yuuhi replied, rolling out some leaves and starting on a second, smaller flower to compliment the first.

"Sure, you go ahead and ask her anything you like about it," he consented with a playful shrug while inwardly trying not to laugh. Ururu was sure to have some interesting things to tell him, or ask him either way. It was just a pity he wouldn't be there to hear it.

Kurogane twitched visibly. "No."

He shouldn't have even bothered asking Fai!

"Why am I having to watch them, anyway? I already told you, I'm not a babysitter!" he demanded in an attempt to get away from the first matter altogether.

"Aw, now you're just being stubborn. I'm sorry, did you want to argue about it some more. Here, I'll start over. Kya~ No, don't talk to her~! What'll I doooo~?" At this, Yuuhi set down his clay so he could more fully add gestures and hand movements to his already over-done display.

As for the supposed babysitting, it was a moot point as far as he was concerned. "Kuro-boo, you're not gonna ditch the poor girls are you? That would be so meaaaan!"

"SHUT UP!"

No, he definitely never should have even attempted to discuss it with Fai.

He slammed a palm to the table as a warning, both for the teasing and for the other subject. "I didn't say that! But don't go telling them I'll watch them for you! I've got things to do that don't involve you or them, you got that?"

"Eeeeeeeeh?" he pretended to be surprised, ignoring his sculpture now in favor of giving the ninja attention. He propped his elbows on the table and turned his big blue eyes up at Kurogane.

"What's Kuro-kupa up to? Is it a secret? Kya~ I'm telling!" he giggled, smiling to himself.

Fai may have been giving attention, but Kurogane was not going to play that game. He instead turned his attention away from the dimwitted grin and looked off at a wall. "I'm not playing babysitter after tonight!" he huffed, choosing not to answer.
