[From here.]Getting slammed into a sturdy door had been enough to knock his thoughts about. Adding in the subsequent fall, however, caused Ken to literally see stars. He may have leaped a little too magnificently that time

A distinct sound caught the child's ear, and he pulled his hands away to view the source. To his astonishment, as soon as his vision focused, he found none of the previous disfigurements. Ken unknowingly let out of shuddered breath while running all available fingers across the top of his head. What he touched was hair, nowhere near the crown from moments prior. His hands slid downward over his mouth and nose. Nothing obtrusive there either. Actually, nothing out of the ordinary in general. Only his previous gray-clad human self.
Almost as if...
A hallucination? Ken frowned deeply, a bright red flush creeping up over his cheeks. Whether or not it had been an illusion was moot point; he had just spent nearly half an hour crying over something short-lived. How embarrassing. How completely unsuitable for someone like him. He was supposed to have a grip over these situations, not lament them

Seeing the kitchen again, despite past efforts and recent success, brought no pleasure to little Ken's eyes. The mishap was still fresh in his mind; just thinking about crying again made the boy blush furiously. Ultimately, it was better to face the woman in the cafeteria than deal with the memories of being...whatever he was.
As a result, he crossed over to the exit as quickly as humanly possible, pausing only once to balance his makeshift bag.
Sasuke stopped just long enough at the door to make sure he heard both other sets of footsteps enter before shoving it shut again. Obviously someone else had already been here, but as far as he was aware the monsters in the Institute didn't normally do the patients the favour of opening doors.
"Status," he snapped at the other two as soon as the door was shut.
His own status wasn't really ideal, but these were just burns, and Sasuke was an Uchiha.
At least one of them was quick to recover. Aidou had to give Sasuke credit for that.
Assuming a son of a noble family, a family that supported peace like most of them did, had never been so badly injured would be wrong. That wasn’t to say it happened very often, because to be so seriously wounded typically meant the opponent was of a near equal calibre, and B classes were nearing the pinnacle of the triangle themselves. Aidou knew what the feeling of suffocating on one’s own blood was like, though it didn’t have the right of being a common experience

Naruto did as he was told when Sasuke shoved him forwards, leaving the room quickly and moving on to the next one, the cold air on his burns making him hiss and bite the inside of his cheek.
He wasn't healing, and he'd never noticed how useful it had been for the Kyuubi to take care of his wounds until now. Had he been back in Konoha, the sting of the burns would probably already be a memory, and not a constant reminder with every move he made.
"I'm...okay," Naruto said, breathing a little heavily, in answer to Sasuke. "Just a few burns."
They wouldn't be enough to stop him, at least not yet. Sure, there was pain, but he'd felt worse before, and his curiosity and eagerness to know the Institute better were pushing him forward.
He looked aside, about to ask Aidou how he was doing when he noticed he'd retreated further, away from them. He frowned, glancing at Sasuke before realising the other boy couldn't see what was going on.
"Aidou's a bit further off...I think he's worse off than we are."
It hadn't escaped Sasuke's notice that Aidou hadn't responded to his demand. The strange quality of the vampire's voice hadn't just been Sasuke's imagination, then. And despite the fact that Aidou's footsteps had retreated, the coughing and laboured breathing were obvious
