Nightshift 36: Sun Room

[From here.]The Sun Room appeared no different from the time Ken entered in last night. What he could make of the floor seemed perfectly intact while sounds inside were nothing of consequence. Nothing mangled, nothing broken, at least as far as the boy could sense ( Read more... )

This required some recollection. "There's a group called the 'Cooking Club' that has people with the ability to create weapons," explained Ken before he bobbed a head toward one area of the Sun Room. "You see the bulletin board over there, senpai? During the day, you can request to speak with one of the members. They'll usually put you on a waiting list. I heard it generally takes a few nights, but the wait is better than nothing."

"Yukari-san and I got ours through special circumstances, though," he added, his tone shifting to melancholy. "We were lucky..." Ken was unsure if the same could be applied to the two seniors, but that was something for Adelheid to offer on his own. They could not take further advantage of his generosity, regardless of need. There were always other avenues. "Anyway, you can also try searching the hospital for items, though they won't be as orthodox as what you'd get from the Cooking Club."

And now, to answer the trickiest portion of the questions. Hopefully, this would not be too much for them to swallow. "Yeah, pretty crazy, isn't it? I didn't know what to think when I first heard the idea myself." Ken sniffed. "Basically, the word is that Dr. Landel knows how to manipulate time and space to pull people from various worlds and times. There are some here who'll claim they've never heard of Earth. A few even say they've never been humans in their world."

So, there wasn't any problem with their memories, but to know so much more than either Amada or Akihiko was...different. She would need to ask Takeba how far she remembered, but it sounded as though the dates between the rest of them were all surrounding significant events in their lives. Perhaps that had something to do with it. The boy was right, it did sound strange and metaphysical, but Mitsuru supposed that everyone would think the same about the world that they lived in. Most people would have been hesitant about hearing of the existence of Shadows, even more wouldn't have liked the method that S.E.E.S. used to summon their Personas.

Then Amada brought up the other worlds. It definitely explained why the woman in the other room had been able to use what she had without a Persona, but it was still hard to believe. Mitsuru was used to phenomena such as the Dark Hour, but she had been exposed to it since she was a child, so she had had quite some time to become accustomed to the idea.

"I see..." she said after a moment's hesitation. She shifted and glanced up again, as if still expecting to see a yellow moon. "I suppose that we've seen strange enough things for it to not be impossible, but it's still rather hard to believe." Mitsuru glanced back down at the two of them again and . "But we do have some proof of our own that lends to that theory, at least where this doctor's control over time is concerned."

At least they had an idea of how to get better weapons for themselves. She would need to ask about that in the morning. "We'll be certain to look into the weapons. Thank you, Amada." Until she managed to get her hands on a sword, she supposed she could make do with a pipe of some sort, if she could find it. A pipe should last her a few days, at least, depending on what they ran into, and in what quantities.

"Yeah, we will," Akihiko said, nodding. "Thanks for the explanation, too." He glanced up at the moon one last time, then quickly shifted gears.

"Do you think you'd be able to get the maps tonight if we headed back to your room, Ken?" He knew it was imposing even more, but if they could get those, it would give them a head start. It would be nice if they could find something for Mitsuru, at least.

Without waiting for an answer, he turned to the open door and stepped through it.

[and out to the main hallway again]
