For the first time since arriving at Landel's, Elle woke up feeling... almost peaceful. She lay in bed for several minutes, adjusting to certain things. Mostly the fact that her left arm was in a sling. And her shoulder didn't hurt as much as she would have expected it to, which probably meant she was on meds

The symbiote was, as usual, patient again, unlike its frustrated Host. He didn't know about his Other, but he was so goddamn pissed he hadn't escaped and they hadn't found out what happened. Instead, he'd fallen asleep like a chump and woke up to find a whole night had flew by while they were wasting it on sleep they probably didn't even need. At least their escape attempt yesterday in Doyleton taught him one thing: they couldn't just bust out like normal, not without those inhibitors kicking in and leaving him barely able to move. If they were going to get the hell out of here, he'd have to find out what exactly stopped them and how to remove it ( ... )

"This... giant thing tried to skewer me," she explained, whimpering slightly for dramatic effect. Well, she couldn't come off as much more of a pathetic damsel in distress at this point, so why not play it up? She crossed the distance between them in one short step, and rested her head against Eddie's shoulder. "God, it was so awful," she mumbled.

"What thing?" Brock asked. He put a hand around her waist. While they weren't sure about Elle, he wasn't that much of a dick to go "and I care why?" just because he hadn't been able to escape this joint. "You'll be okay," he said, giving her waist a squeeze. "It's over now."
Okay, that wasn't entirely true. There was always next night, but he had a feeling that wasn't what Elle wanted to hear. What did get him wondering was how come she didn't just fry the sucker, pull a little Pikachu-action and just thunderbolt the thing. Of course, if she was a mutant, there was a pretty good chance she had the same inhibitors they did, so maybe she couldn't or needed time to recharge or whatever mutants needed to do when they ran out of juice.

Her fingers started playing with his hair. "You looked pretty tuckered out after yesterday," she whispered, feeling pretty tired herself. Pain medication was great, but she wished someone would invent one that didn't make you drowsy.
She leaned her head back and looked up at him, wondering if she wanted to kiss him. Yeah, kinda, but he was paying attention to her right now, so she didn't really need to.

"I don't know what happened," Brock said. Elle looked ready to curl up practically in his lap like a cat, her fingers playing with his hair lazily. He wasn't sure if she was just genuinely tired or hopped up on drugs. "All I know is I don't get tired like that, not out of the blue."
He was pretty sure she didn't either. Maybe she knew what that was all about - she'd offered some hints (more like teases) - and maybe he could get some answers when she wasn't concentrating right now. Sucked about her getting nearly ass-kicked by a thing with her own powers, but hey, stuff like that happened in Landels all the time because you took a big risk just stepping foot outside your room each night.

But it was a sunny Sunday morning, and she was hanging out with a guy who was practically, if not actually, her first boyfriend, and she didn't want to talk business.
"Come here," she said quietly, offering Eddie a teasing smile before tugging him over to a couch and pushing him onto it. She straddled his lap, and leaned back to look him in the eye.
What did normal people talk about on Sunday mornings? Their week? Funny dreams they'd had? Breakfast food? Those all sounded so boring. Instead, Elle kissed him, languidly, taking her time to explore his lips with her own. She didn't usually make out with guys for no reason - if she was perfectly honest with herself, she usually did it for attention, or sometimes to see how they'd react. But normal girls kissed their boyfriends on Sunday mornings, so ( ... )

"You know," he said, returning it, knowing he'd probably never know how many men Elle had been with before and not caring, "you keep this up and they'll pull us apart," he mumbled, words muffled by the kiss.
She seemed like a pretty affectionate girl. Brock had a feeling she knew more than she let on, but she was pretty damn hot, which made him a tiny bit more accepting of her secrets - although if push came to shove, they could throw off the cuddly, weak human ability to care and get right down the business. One of the perks of having an alien in you. Still, until then, he was fine with chilling out with a hot, sexy girl straddling him and making out with her. No matter how many times he kept warning her about the staff, she never seemed to listen.

"What's the matter?" she asked. "Do you want them to pull us apart, or something?" Her hand slid under his shirt and began lightly stroking his chest. "I thought you were enjoying yourself, Eddie. I thought you liked me."

"It's no fun if they pull us apart though," Brock said smoothly. "It's not you're no fun. But there's something called time and place. Doing it where everyone can see us is just asking for them to start splitting us up and that wouldn't be fun, would it ( ... )

She wanted Eddie all to herself, and if that meant getting him somewhere that he wouldn't be worried about nurses and sedatives, where he could focus completely on her, then that's what she'd do.

"At night," he said. Now that they knew there was no way to just walk or run out of Landels, there wasn't any harm in having a little fun between finding out more about these inhibitors. "My room or yours."

He thought of something.
Hell. Dammit, he hadn't ever got down post-symbiote and now he was getting concerned. They didn't even have condoms here, so that was fun. And what about his Other? He didn't think it could infect another person unless it wanted to (and it sure as hell didn't want to go after Elle, not with her particular abilities), but there was no telling what space diseases he'd picked up since that night in the bell tower. For all he knew, his only immunity was his symbiote. It was a lot of ifs...and it was probably pretty dickish of him, but he couldn't even warn Elle. Not unless he was upfront and admitted everything there was to know about his Other - not exactly something he was too crazy about and that was his jealousy talking. His thing with his Other was ( ... )

She set it as a personal challenge to herself to make Eddie forget about the nurses before the shift ended. Not that he would; he worried too much. But she'd have fun trying.
