Day 36: The Sun Room

Oct 10, 2008 10:13

For the first time since arriving at Landel's, Elle woke up feeling... almost peaceful. She lay in bed for several minutes, adjusting to certain things. Mostly the fact that her left arm was in a sling. And her shoulder didn't hurt as much as she would have expected it to, which probably meant she was on meds ( Read more... )

Brock didn't think he'd have a visitor. It seemed like every since Parker showed his mug, he hadn't gotten any, and that was more than fine with him - they weren't entirely sure they wouldn't give Jameson a new nose job to go along with that ass-ugly mustache of his if he "visited" again.

The symbiote was, as usual, patient again, unlike its frustrated Host. He didn't know about his Other, but he was so goddamn pissed he hadn't escaped and they hadn't found out what happened. Instead, he'd fallen asleep like a chump and woke up to find a whole night had flew by while they were wasting it on sleep they probably didn't even need. At least their escape attempt yesterday in Doyleton taught him one thing: they couldn't just bust out like normal, not without those inhibitors kicking in and leaving him barely able to move. If they were going to get the hell out of here, he'd have to find out what exactly stopped them and how to remove it ( ... )

"Hi Eddie," Elle responded flirtatiously. She tried to put the rubber band around her journal, but it turned out that was really hard to do when the slightest motion of her left hand sent pain racing all the way up to her shoulder. After a few failed attempts, she gave it up.

"This... giant thing tried to skewer me," she explained, whimpering slightly for dramatic effect. Well, she couldn't come off as much more of a pathetic damsel in distress at this point, so why not play it up? She crossed the distance between them in one short step, and rested her head against Eddie's shoulder. "God, it was so awful," she mumbled.

Brock automatically reached over for her journal, seeing the trouble she was having. Barely looking down at it - hell, knowing her, she was probably writing down girly shit in her diary - he put the rubber band around it and handed it back.

"What thing?" Brock asked. He put a hand around her waist. While they weren't sure about Elle, he wasn't that much of a dick to go "and I care why?" just because he hadn't been able to escape this joint. "You'll be okay," he said, giving her waist a squeeze. "It's over now."

Okay, that wasn't entirely true. There was always next night, but he had a feeling that wasn't what Elle wanted to hear. What did get him wondering was how come she didn't just fry the sucker, pull a little Pikachu-action and just thunderbolt the thing. Of course, if she was a mutant, there was a pretty good chance she had the same inhibitors they did, so maybe she couldn't or needed time to recharge or whatever mutants needed to do when they ran out of juice.

"I dunno." Elle draped her good arm around Eddie's shoulder. She liked leaning on someone else, for once, even though Daddy would say she was being weak. "But it was like it was made out of lightning. My ability didn't work against it."

Her fingers started playing with his hair. "You looked pretty tuckered out after yesterday," she whispered, feeling pretty tired herself. Pain medication was great, but she wished someone would invent one that didn't make you drowsy.

She leaned her head back and looked up at him, wondering if she wanted to kiss him. Yeah, kinda, but he was paying attention to her right now, so she didn't really need to.

So even the Noah could cry.

After he had apparently fainted after testing the limits on his powers, he woke on the floor with tears pouring from his eyes. Tears that weren't even his. The one grieving was none other than his Noah, crying for a part, a memory that was no longer there. It was thanks to those same tears that Tyki Mikk knew what had happened.

Rhode was dead.

It washed over him like ice cold water. Rhode.was.dead. If there was something he hadn't really considered, it would be the oldest Noah, his so-called 'niece', Rhode Camelot of all people, dying. A billion of questions raced through his head as he attempted to make his sore body rise to his feet. What the hell had happened? Who did it? Damn, the little idiot! Hadn't he told her not to let something happen to her? And he had been lying on the floor and- Shit! Sheryl was going to kill him if he ever found out about that. With a somewhat weak and shaky body he stumbled towards the door and ( ... )

Another night lost, and this one in complete inactivity, save for the scrape just following nightfall. And yet in spite of herself, Lia could not quite be disappointed. She'd needed the sleep, she realized, and badly, after having taken so little time even to recuperate from her injuries. While she was not exactly cheerful as she made her way into the sun room, she was in a better frame of mind than she had been for some time, perhaps even since awakening in the strange hospital room ( ... )

Tyki had been so lost in thought that he hadn't noticed Lia approaching until she had voiced her question. He was startled for a split second, but soon managed to regain his composure, something closer to the laid-back attitude he usually had.

"No, I didn't." he admitted, biting his lip. The Noah had no idea how long he had been waiting in that stupid line yesterday, but the trip ended not long after he had finally got his lunch. "How 'bout you? Did you find anything?"

"Nothing," Lia admitted ruefully. "It sounds rather peculiar, I'd expect, but it seemed there was scarcely any time to look around before they began herding us back." She frowned pensively, gaze tracking to follow one of the nurses attached to the slowing trickle of patients. Could they control time, or the perceptions of it? She shook her head after a few seconds as though to physically rid herself of the disturbing notion. "There don't seem to be many fewer patients today than there were before, though. It seems unlikely anyone met with unqualified good fortune."

Waking this morning was nothing like the peaceful one from yesterday. Senna jumped up, immediantely looking around the room. It was hers, with no sign of Alita. Where was the forest, and the hurt boy, Artemis? They said it would be abrupt, but this was ridiculous.

She slid her spear under her bed--now how had that come back with her?--and did a few stretches to take her mind off of things... like mind readers, and people that didn't know what the Shinenju was. Maybe it had just been a dream.

Her loosened hair ribbon floated down to the floor. Ichigo. Maybe it was all a dream, but he wasn't. Senna traipsed to the Sun Room, enjoying the light from the high windows. Hands behind her back, she stood in the middle of the room, letting herself be bathed in light. What was, was, she thought. What would be, would be. No sense worrying about it now. Senna tipped her head back, closing her eyes. She had light and life--and food soon, by that announcement. She could let herself be content, just for a little while.

Orihime was used to the abrupt changes by now. She was glad she'd stashed her things away the night before, and she had a little time for a quick check before the nurse came in to show her to the sunroom ( ... )

Senna heard someone walking near her, but didn't open her eyes just yet. "Enjoying the view?" She absorbed the rays for another minute, then opened her eyes with a smile. "I'm Senna, and you...."

For once her memory didn't falter, and she placed the orange-haired girl on the bridge. "I talked to you on the board. Orihime, right?" Her smile turned into a grin. The girl was sorta nice before.

Without waiting for a reply, Senna flopped down in the middle of the floor, laying on her back in the sunlight. She propped herself up on her elbows, and patted the floor next to her.

Orihime turned at the voice, an apology for interrupting already half-formed on her lips--

"Oh, yes! Senna-san, it's good to meet you finally." Orihime replied, smiling back at the other girl. Or down in her vague direction. She was still blinking away the bright spots left by the sunlight.

She really wished she could remember something about Senna, but even seeing her in person didn't jog any memories except...a vague familiarity. She felt like she could trust the other girl. She seemed nice, and she said she was Ichigo's friend so she must be a good person even if Orihime didn't know her.

She rather liked the idea of laying in the sun with Senna, so she flopped down beside the other girl and turned her head a little so she could see her. "This is nice. I've been here a while and I never even tried."

When he awoke, Scar realized he must have fallen asleep sometime after dinner. He hadn't accomplished anything tonight, but for some reason, he felt less irritated than usual. The situation, his recent discoveries...it had been enough to turn everything upside down. He'd rather stop providing himself with a headache and stop thinking about it. He needed his energy for locating a way home, back to his rightful throne. He couldn't afford wasting it on things that did not matter in the long run. Not when the food chain was so messed up and he could be eaten by some vermin any moment during the nights.

Maybe a night's rest had been exactly what he had needed.

He listened to the announcement with mild curiosity before being escorted to the sun room. Visitors? He couldn't help but wonder if the event was as happy as their dear headdoctor made them out to be. The nurse came to escort him to the sun room soon after, so he hadn't been given more time to think about the matter. The female happily chattered along the way about something Scar ( ... )

Oh no! He was back in his room again! Brook sat up quickly, but ended up halting for the soreness in his body. Right, his scuffle with the tree. Moving so quickly might not be such a good idea.

But Archer! Brook hadn't gotten back to him or the others! He looked across from his bed, but did not find his roommate there. He must have been taken already. At least Brook hoped that was the case. He'd have never forgiven himself if something had happened to his roommate down in that scary basement while Brook had been absent ( ... )

Soon after Scar had situated himself on the floor, he was joined by a...rather tall human. But what stood out even more than the male's height was the peculiar-looking mane. As unfamiliar as he was with human hair (let alone afro's), the King couldn't help but to be reminded of a bush when he looked at the man's hair. Another thought today he decided to keep to himself.

And then came the greeting, a rather peculiar one at that as well. Someone happened to be a rather cheerful one, it seemed. Oh, goody...

"Good morning." he greeted back, more out of manners than anything else.

Thankfully Brook's "bush" was far less of one now that the branches had been fully removed. He'd given it a good looking over before leaving his room just to be sure he'd not lost any parts of it to his forest foe. And he hadn't which was wonderful!

At least this person was decent enough to return his greeting. Some of those Brook had approached first thing had told him far worse. Not this time though! "Ah, forgive me if I bothered you, but it is always an excellent thing getting to know others. My name is Brook, by the way. What might yours be?" he both apologized, then moved straight into the introductions, not even bothering to see if the man would rather not be bothered.

For once, Leon was happy to wake up in his room. It meant that nothing else horrible could happen to him today. To him, or to Yukito and Eileen... He made a mental note to seek them out soon. He needed to find out what had happened to them. He needed answers.

His entire body ached, though some parts were in more pain that others. His hands and back, especially. Leon elected to go to the Sun Room rather than the chapel. His most recent encounter with religion had been a far from positive one. Friggin' cultists.

Leon found a comfortable seat on a couch, and leaned his head back, closing his eyes. He had to believe that there was a cure for the virus that was in his system. He had to, or he might as well just hang himself with a bed sheet. There was a cure somewhere. He'd just have to work harder to find it.

Last night had been the worst yet. The nasty dogs, transforming right in front of Bridget, and then running around that scary town and that creepy church. When she was given the choice of the chapel or the Sun Room, she wanted to stay as far from the church as possible. Just the thought of those creepy letters written in what had to be blood all over the wall, and then the bodies, and...

Kagura shook her head, freeing herself of those thoughts for now as she crossed her arms tightly over her chest. She had to make sure Bridget was okay, but for the moment, she didn't see him. She did, however, see another familiar face.

"Leon-san?" she asked as she approached. "Is... is it alright if I sit with you for a while?"

Leon opened his eyes, and even managed a faint smile, at the sound of a familiar voice. "Sure," he replied. He looked over at the young woman. She looked worried, like she was recalling something unpleasant. "Everything all right?" he asked. "Anything happen last night?" The thought that Kagura could have been taken by the doctors last night sent a chill through him.

It was good to see someone smile, even if it was only a little one. Leon was always so nice to her, it was too bad she'd done so little for him in return. Then again, that seemed to be a running trend.

"Oh, um, thank you," she took a seat, hands folded quietly in her lap. For a moment she avoided his eyes, considering if it was right to tell him about what'd happened. But after holding things in for so long, depending on someone else, even just to listen, felt better.

"I... It was kind of difficult," she admitted, glancing up at Leon. He didn't look like he'd had a very good night either. "We got outside, but... but there were dogs and... and they hurt my friend, but..."

She chewed her lip for a moment, trying not to let her emotions get the better of her. "He... I couldn't do anything for him. I don't even know if he's still ok."

There was a pause as she took a moment to get her head right and calm down, but even then, she appeared fairly shaken. "I... what about you Leon-san? Are you okay?"
