Adelheid's eyes narrowed as he let the beam of his flashlight play over the dark corners of this hall, alert for any signs of trouble. He was close to his destination, but that didn't mean he could afford to get sloppy now. He'd survived in this place for too long to let one careless mistake do him in.
...and yet, despite the danger, he found himself unable to fight his feeling of liberation. No one else slowed him down or got in his way, and he knew he was moving faster as a result. Perhaps this would be a learning experience after all.
