Day 21 - Sun Room

Ichigo was only too eager to leave the cafeteria and its fresh memories behind when the softened chime of the intercome rang clear. What had begun as another ordinary meal, a rather agreeable one despite the lack of the proper utensils, quickly became somewhat unnerving. His conversation with...what was his name again?...took so many sharp turns, ( Read more... )

The captain jerked out of his thoughts when someone approached him. It was the same man that had saved him the other night. Apparantly, he had escaped unscatched when the night had ended so abrubtly as it did.

"I'm fine." the warrior replied. He then paused, as if he hestitated.

"...why did you save me?" Albel asked. "You could've just left." Who knew what would happen if the night hadn't ended? And the fact that someone else had saved him...he didn't deserve that. He especially didn't deserve to be saved by strangers.

Things were so much easier when people just flat out hated you. And while that went with most of the worms he met, there were persistent exceptions as well. Fayt was one of them.

As long as this person wouldn't give him the 'I can't abandon anyone in need' crap (or something along those lines). He heard enough about it already by 'certain' people. Fools, they were. Dreaming on and on they could make the world a better place.

Albel looked up when a female decided to jump on the arm of the couch. Without falling, he noted, as most other maggots people would've landed on the floor. The Ellicoorian blinked when the girl started to talk in riddles. He couldn't exactly follow any of it.

"Huh?" Not a very intelligent reply, but it summed up his thoughts perfectly. What the hell was she talking about?

"I was on my way back, anyway," Mal replied with an indifferent shrug. "It wasn't really outta my way to grab you." The captain was not an optimistic, I'm-going-to-change-the-world type of person. He did what he could to make sure things were set to rights, but he had no delusions of being a hero. He'd shown the 'verse what the Alliance had done, which was somewhat epic for him, but...

"It could have just as easily been me," he pointed out. Who knew if the one he had saved would have saved him. That wasn't really the point, anyway, since those hadn't been the circumstances. Mal didn't often question why he did things. He simply did them.

Mal was glad to see River. He'd been meaning to talk to her, but she'd always been busy. It seemed she'd become rather popular, which didn't exactly surprise him. "Hey now," he said. "No Bible talk, all right?" He had been meaning to lead her away so they could talk privately, but paused for a moment. "Starts with an A, huh." He glanced over at the other man. "What is your name, then?"
