As expected, there didn't seem to be anyone on this side either, though if Sync strained his ears enough he could barely make out bits and pieces of a conversation nearby. He could only assume that there were others here after all, but not to the point where they were overwhelming. That suited his needs just fine, and so he continued on without much complaint.

Of course, Sync leaving without any warning left Joshua glancing around in utter bafflement, just barely catching the other boy out of the corner of his eye. Ah, the burdens he had to bear, when he chose the most recalcitrant of partners. He hustled after Sync, and instead of asking him to slow down- which wouldn't be welcomed, his former 'as long as you don't slow me down' comment still remembered- Joshua said, "So remind me, where are you going, again?"

"I'm checking out the supplies," Sync answered in a matter-of-factly tone, seeing no need to beat around the bush with something so mundane. "You've seen what can happen to you if you're not careful. Might as well be prepared."

Ah, it was so sad! But Joshua couldn't do anything about it, yet, so he'd just have to follow along and do the best he could with what he had. The kid he was traveling with had some potential, that was one thing; he knew what he was doing, and that was another. "As prepared as you can be, anyway. I'm afraid that I'm not used to having to get close to things with just a shovel on my side."
