Nightshift 34: Main Hallway, 2-East

[from here]Once out of the main hallway, Renamon relaxed a fraction. Possessions room or janitor closet, either way they didn't have far to go now. She clicked her flashlight on intermediately, but nothing was out so far. A part of her wondered how Orihime was faring, and then another part wondered where Rika was ( Read more... )

Beatrix paused at the top of the stairs and listened. She could hear a fight off to her left a bit, but that was it. She put a finger to her lips to indicate to Donna she should stay quiet before heading left, toward it. She hoped the fight was far enough away that they could slip by since the pharmacy was just around the corner.

Donna wasn't about to get them caught because of her big mouth, and yes, she knew she had one. Her lip closed up and she kept silent while following along behind their leader. Arlene apparently knew where she was going, and Donna was not going to give away their position by questioning that.

Good. It seemed Donna understood the point of silence when it was necessary. The Bride was fairly certain she could fend off most of the creatures in this place even as injured as she was, but the fight sounded more like two people fighting as opposed to a prisoner fighting a mutated animal.

She knew she wasn't the only killer in the populace.

She turned her flashlight off so they wouldn't draw attention to themselves. it was dark, yes, but the adjoining room let in moonlight from the skylights. They would be able to see well-enough.

Now that there was a safe distance between her and the fighting, the Bride paused and looked back to see if Donna had kept up. Considering the woman was watching her like a mother hen, she'd have been surprised if the woman hadn't been there.

"Down this hallway. There are more rudimentary medical supplies."

"You may've ditched her, but I bloody live with her. She gets on my case about it day after day, but even if I tried to leave, she'd still get on me about that." Donna talking about her mother was a completely different thing when compared with talking about the Doctor, or even her granddad. Sometimes she had to wonder if her granddad hadn't adopted her mother. "And if you don't look out for yourself, you'll be in a lot of trouble later on."

"See now, there's a distinct difference between our cultures. We damn Americans get out as soon as we can if we're lucky enough to not be kicked out earlier," Beatrix replied. She was curious what her mother was up to, or better yet, her whole family; she hadn't seen them since she took her first life. There was something wrong about going back to a place where you live an innocent, naive existence after you've snuffed the life out of another person by choice.

"I'll be fine. If I don't take care of myself well enough, I'll hear from my wards as well." She turned down the hall. "I certainly don't need both you and the teenagers on my case."
