Then of course, there was the realization that he was nowhere near where he had fallen asleep the previous night. That in itself seemed improbable unless Mal was truly pulling a prank on him. Or maybe Jayne. Well, whoever was responsible, Simon was determined not to panic. There had to be a logical explanation for this and he would find out what it was.
He walked over to his door, opening it and peeking out to find that the hallway was completely black. What hospital didn't light it's corridors at night? It was another thing Simon made a mental note about as he moved back into his room. There was a flashlight on the desk and he took it, flicking it on and off experimentally. It seemed to be functioning well enough. Simon walked back over to his door and looked out, surprised that he didn't see any hospital personnel around. Well, if no one was waiting around to answer his questions he was just going to have to go out and find someone who knew what they were doing.
