The doors had unlocked, and Albel the Wicked didn't waste any time with moving out into the hallway. It was still early, so no one was around just yet. Not that the warrior was going to complain about that

It was evening once again and Shadow was still caged.
He didn't know what he was expecting. Not once was he given any reason to think this was a temporary condition. But somehow, he assumed that if he just waited the collar would fade from his neck and he'd be able to be himself again instead of this horrible, mindless slave. But when the doctor announced the changing shift and Shadow remained still, waiting for an order he knew that it wasn't temporary. He was stuck like this.
Shadow wanted to rage, curse, to kill whoever had done this to him. Lord Dyran or perhaps one of the Doctors - he didn't care. He'd never felt so angry before. But the stranger remained motionless, oblivious to the temper that was locked inside. He waited for one of his masters to arrive and he wouldn't move from the bed until he was ordered to.
"Very well, thank you sir," Shadow replied, his eyes still downcast. He could barely see Keman's face as he was staring at those horrible slippers the hospital made them wear.
Would it kill them to give us leather shoes? Shadow thought, tearing his mind away from the depressing realization that he was still trapped. How do they expect us to run from those monsters if we're slipping all over the place?
Without him realizing it, Shadow's lips twitched, mouthing a few of the words he thought. It wasn't very noticeable and someone would have to be watching him closely to have picked p on it.
Shadow sighed, audibly as well as internally. What else could he do? Would he and Keman sit in silence as they waited or the others? What would happen then? He truly hoped that they wouldn't spend the night waiting for someone to speak. It was starting to become unbearable.
At least your hair looks nice, Shadow snorted, glancing up. He made a low murmured sound though it was difficult to tell if he was talking as the words were unintelligible.
Well, it's certainly a welcome change from the"...bird's nest that it was."
Shadow's words were soft but very clearly there. He didn't seem to have noticed that he was speaking out loud. His head was still hunched but every so often there were tiny flickers of gestures in his shoulders, his hands moving as he spoke.
"Should have me wash your hair more often," he whispered. "Not to mention your little dragon. It's such a shame I won't be able to tease you about that."
Shadow blinked. He didn't understand why Keman was kneeling in front of him like that.
"Well, if you're going to re-enact the shower scene I'm not going to stop you," he blurted out. His eyes went wide and his hand went to his lips, his heart stopping as he actually heard what he said.
"I... Ancestors, I heard that."
He looked at Keman, almost too afraid to speak again. "Can you hear what I'm saying?"
Shadow laughed shakily, holding tightly to Keman. Everything he had been keeping inside since the moment those doctors strapped him down just seemed to pour out. A damn burst and it took everything to keep from sobbing on Keman's shoulder.
"I don't know how it happened," he admitted, leaning his forehead against Keman's. "I'm just... Fuck, you have no idea..."
The next few minutes happened quickly. Shadow was so elated that he was no longer changed that he did the one thing that seemed to sum up his feelings. He kissed Keman.
It wasn't a normal, friendly kiss. Shadow kissed his friend deeply. It was the best way he could express himself, how grateful he was that Keman had stood by him even when it was the most embarrassing. He had put the poor dragon through so much today. The least he could do was give Keman his thanks.
Shadow hadn't expected Keman to return the kiss. He half expected the dragon to freeze, tentatively reciprocating until Shadow pulled away but this- Well, Shadow was almost thankful for spending the entire day a mindless slave if it ended in having Keman kiss him in return. For a beginner it wasn't that bad and Shadow quickly took advantage of the situation.
He slid down from the bed, his knees hitting the floor as he pushed Keman gently onto his back. Shadow didn't break contact, biting Keman's lower lip softly as his kiss of gratitude became something else entirely. He straddled Keman's hips, resting his arms on either side of Keman's head as he kissed him lazily, slowly helping Keman perfect his technique.

Go away, Keman, Shadow said bitterly inside his own head. It looks as though I'll be like this for awhile.
