[Specifically M16]Well, dinner did a lot of nothing. Chances were that Not-Noah would depart soon, so Luxord merely continued to pet Tyche (who had, by now, ceased her need to paw his chest in an attempt to make it softer or whatever reason cats did that and decided to curl up and sleep again). Knowing full well that he was lacking in the 'people

Concentrate! The logical part of his mind insisted. The other part wanted only to lash out and hurt something else just as badly as he'd been injured. The pain he'd experienced was difficult to forget. He could hear the doors unlock, hear the patients preparing for the evening. It was difficult to keep from giving chase, or from pursuing his own prey for the night, but he was the one in control. That was what separated him from people like Muraki. He could control himself.

Rangiku entered the corridor warily. She knew that his room was somewhere around here, she wasn't entirely certain which one it was exactly and there was no point in just knocking on every door that she came across. Instead, she waited at the end of the corridor, waiting to see him when he came out and hoping that she was just overreacting.

His blue eyes scanned the hall quickly, looking wild for a moment before they locked on to something familiar. Her.
The knife fell from his hand, dropping to the floor with a loud clanking sound.

And then he dropped the knife.
In a moment she was by his side, reaching out to touch his shoulder, wanting to do more but not certain what had been done to him and definitely not wanting to make it worse. "Gin," she said softly and then quickly guided him back into the room he'd come out of, closing the door behind them. She didn't want anyone overhearing if he said anything.

Why had they gone back inside? He wanted to keep busy, keeping busy meant that he didn't have to think, because if he thought, he knew exactly what he would be thinking about. He brushed some imaginary dust from his shirt to keep from making eye contact. "So where's it t'be tonight? Didn't see any announcements on th' board..." he trailed off.

She frowned, his admission of not seeing the bulletin announcement just another sign of how wrong he was acting. He was too observant not to notice something. "Gin, what happened?"

"Jus' tired," he replied, turning toward the door and trying once again to make the mask stick. "Nurses got a lil' friendly with those needles n' I had t'sleep it off. Come on now, we got things t'do, ain't we? I gotta go swap these kitchen knives for a sword n' then m'sure your lil' captain got somethin' nice planned for us, ne?"

He could still see Muraki's nightmarish face as the doctor tore away at his chest, up to his elbows in blood and tissues. Then he'd pressed those broken ribs down until he could hardly breathe... and then... how much of it had been real? He was reluctant to take his shirt off, afraid of what he might see underneath the bandages. "Ain't nothin' much," he lied, "'sides, it'd be more fun if I get t'play nurse n' you take your shirt off."

He didn't want to let her look at his injuries, or he was afraid she'd see something else, was that it? She slipped up behind him, wrapping her arms slowly around his waist and her fingers beneath his shirt. "I'll take off mine if you take off yours. More fun that way, right?" she said warmly, teasingly.

She'd feel better when she saw there was nothing more than what'd been last night, wouldn't she? He pulled at the top of his robe, tugging at the black fabric and slipping it off one shoulder, then the other. "See? Nothin' much. Just a couple busted ones," he assured her, turning to face Ran and placing a hand over hers. It was shaking; only barely, but it was enough that he removed it after only a second, pulled it away like he'd touched something that was much too hot.
He tried to recover, tugging at the hem of her shirt, even though he knew he'd been caught. Would she simply overlook it? "Now whatcha got that I c'n kiss better, mm?"

She peered over his shoulder at his chest, glad to see no new wounds, but that just made her concern worse because there was no physical reason for him to be acting this way. And then he pulled away from her like he'd been burned and that hurt but more than that, it made her angry that someone could have done something so terrible to Gin. And she couldn't overlook it. She couldn't pretend, not just for her but because it would just eat at him.
"Don't you trust me?"

Awkwardly, she raised her arms, wrapping them around him just as tightly, making sure that he knew that she wasn't about to leave him. That was all that she could offer here and now, but for the two of them, that had all they'd ever been able to offer so it was enough, she hoped.

Maybe it was her warmth, maybe he'd just calmed down, and maybe it was knowing that they only ones they could count on to get them out of this mess was themselves. Either way, he had at least a few days to make sure that what happened earlier never happened again.
"Righ' then. Guess we better get t'fixin' ourselves up so we c'n go play hero again t'night. Don't think you're gettin' a free show, I still remember whatcha promised," he smirked.

"Mmm, you know, Orihime-chan did say she'd heal us both tomorrow if we waited, or are you too impatient," she said teasingly. She grasped the bottom of her shirt awkwardly, still having trouble with her arm despite having taken the sling off, and pulled it over her head. "How are you with riddles?"
