Nightshift 33: F1-F10 Hallway

Yuffie carefully tightened and tested the knot at the back of her head. The long strip of torn and folded bed sheet was a lousy replacement for her usual headband, but she could deal with it. For now, anyway.

Frowning, she dropped her hand to pick briefly at the grey material of her pants. It was so tempting to rip them, to modify them into shorts ( Read more... )

Dr. Alec Doyle.

So that had been his real name, huh? Alec. How ironic. The voice had been impossible not to recognize, and hearing it again over the static airwaves had staggered her for a moment, freezing her in disbelief.

But it had just been a recording and it changed nothing, other than to piss her off and wishing that wherever that bastard Landel was broadcasting from, she could find him and show him the kind of games she played.

Slamming out of her room, Max turned down the hall, walking brusquely, needing the few moments walk to Dean's room to clear her head. It wouldn't be fair to take her suddenly bad mood out on him, especially when something was up.

Alita's room wasn't too far from her own. She was sure she could probably make it there and back before anyone came to visit her at least. Kagura watched Max leave, then grabbed her flashlight and headed out the door too.

Kagura felt much braver as she returned to her room with the weapon in hand. No more touching any icky, slimy bugs! She felt like she could take on the world! There was almost a bounce in her step as she opened the door and waited for her friends to arrive.

Where was Bridget? It'd been much too long. Had she missed him when she'd gone to Alita's room? Had something happened to him on the way over? Had... he forgotten about her? Maybe she should try to at least make it to the girl's entrance, just to check.

She just hoped she didn't run into any bugs.

He paused again, this time outside of the door of his destination, and breathed deeply before opening the door, again foregoing the politeness of knocking. "Oy..." he called in case there really was someone present - a roommate maybe - but he stopped short when he did look in. "Ah?"

Ururu didn't need long to reach the right hallway, or the right room. Especially since Kurogane was standing in front of the door. But then Kurogane opened the door, and as Ururu walked up to him, she realized that he hadn't knocked.

That wasn't very nice.

So Ururu decided to tell him so, walking up so she was just behind him, and looking up at the much taller man. He wasn't practicing good manners today at all. "You're supposed to knock first, Kurogane-san."

Orihime had just finished her dinner when the doors unlocked. It was earlier than she'd expected it to be and the intercom announcement didn't make much sense, but she gathered her things and started towards the door. She had to figure out where Ururu would end up when she wasn't in the right room.

The door opened of its own accord, and Kurogane's 'oy' was the only thing that kept her from being smacked by it. "Kurogane-san, Ururu-chan..! Sakura-san never showed up. I got moved here but she never showed up. Do you know where she is?"

"Sakura-san never showed up."

Yue was close enough to the door to hear those words drifting out as Orihime spoke them and paused for a moment in his tracks. She wasn't there? Fai had been right? Ignoring proper manners, and potentially earning himself a lecture from Ururu as well, Yue approached the gathering at F3 without bothering to introduce himself or otherwise ask if it was all right to intrude. "She's not here?"

If his attitude before was approaching "offended feline" it was now there and beyond. Were his wings still present his feathers would be ruffling, but for now he had to settle for glaring indiscriminately at those to whom he was speaking.

Pulling on her bladed knuckles and switching on her flashlight, Lust moved into the hallway to meet with her unknown companions. She had hoped to be paired with Ashton and Dias, as she and the blue haired man had briefly discussed. But she hadn't seen either of their names posted, and supposed they got distracted by something.

No matter.

She would go with these people and perhaps gain more clues to offer to Hohenheim in exchange for his alliance.

Hopefully no one would keep her waiting.

The gypsy tried her best to not keep the others waiting (and considering how quick she could be, it wasn't much of a problem), but it looked like only the woman was there.

"You must be Lust," she said. 'Lust', indeed. It probably wasn't her real name. Still, Esmeralda nodded at her and gave a smile. It was... a little awkward to go into blind missions like this, but it was the most she could do to help the other patients.

"I am." Lust nodded, eying the woman. She looked... almost Ishbalan. It was a touch startling. Had her eyes been red, Lust would have assumed this woman was from her own desert people.

"I assume you're Esmeralda, then?"

"You'd assume correctly." She brushed her hair off her shoulder and crossed her arms over her chest. There was some odd similarity between her and the other woman, but she pushed it out of her thoughts.

"When do you think the other one is getting here?"

Shana slipped out of her room as darkness fell. Still clutching the jagged pole she'd carried for the past two nights - she was still hoping to find the things she needed to make a bow, should they stumble across a monster tonight.

Pausing just outside her door, she lit a ball of magelight, setting it to hover over her shoulder. She'd promised Keman she'd light one, and she hoped whatever he was doing first off tonight wouldn't be too dangerous. That done, she set off towards Valyn's room.

Nightfall. Kairi felt as if dinner flew by in a flash - had she even eaten? She wasn’t hungry, but … she didn’t remember eating, exactly.

Oh well. That was the least of her worries. She had a place to be.

Gathering up all of her things, Kairi quickly changed into her normal outfit and did a quick spin around once before moving out of the door, humming to herself as she clicked on the flashlight and moved down the darkened hallway.
