Nightshift 33: Main Hallway, 1-West

[from here]He knew he was out early now; the main hallways like this one usually had at least one or two other people scurrying about even when he was rushing through. Not yet though, but that was just as well. He took the usual right and kept along the wall just in case his senses just weren't picking up on some kind of threat. Being quick did not ( Read more... )

[To here]

Scar slipped into the next hallway, taking a quick glance around. There were a few more humans standing around, but the King still kept moving nonetheless.

...and there was a familiar face. It wasn't the one he had hoped for, but Mozenrath acknowledged it none the less.

"Scar."

Scar halted when he heard a familiar voice, turning his head towards its source. He quickly recognized the person before him as Mozenrath - notably without Nakago - and the hopes of getting anything done were instantly lost. Especially because the other man would most likely whine about that gauntlet of his.

Ah well, at least he had found a decent meat shield for tonight. But then again, considering the man's blindness for that precious gauntlet, the King supposed he could attempt to stir the man in a certain direction. It was at least worth a try.

Now all there was left to decide on was the direction itself...

"Ah, if it isn't Mozenrath." he answered dryly to the other man's acknowledgment.

The sorcerer's wrist suddenly throbbed, undoubtedly from the injury at the hands of Falis, but Mozenrath took it as one of the many near-constant reminders as to the importance of locating his gauntlet. He put his good hand on his hip. "Are you dreadfully busy or can you be expected to help with the task at hand?"

What was the task? Locating his gauntlet, of course! Surely Scar knew that already.

Of course Scar knew that already. It was insanely difficult not to know what kind of task Mozenrath was busy with. "That gauntlet of yours, I assume?"

He was still deciding on a direction. There were the first and second floors, but as far as the King knew they hardly seemed interesting. There was also the rumored basement, but he wasn't sure if he was prepared enough to have such a decidedly dangerous destination. The same went with the outside the message earlier tonight had so kindly hinted at. His only way to defend himself was a heavy sort of stick (a 'steel pipe'?), and considering some of the abominations he had the pleasure of spotting, he'd doubted such an item would cause much damage.

On the other hand, wandering around the first and second floors hardly seemed productive.

"I suppose you still have no idea where it is located?" He began. Provided that it'd be located anywhere at all.

[Where shall the boys head?]

"Some place well guarded, I would imagine," The sorcerer scoffed as if it was perfectly obvious. "My gantlet isn't something to be tossed about lightly."

Scar was going to help him find. Oh, the man owed it to Mozenrath after doing absolutely nothing to help him when he had been attacked a few nights earlier. Granted, Mozenrath would have abandoned him in the exact same way, but the sorcerer was much better at making excuses that served HIS needs than looking at the big picture.

[INTO THE DEPTHS OF HELL! I dunno...uhhhh...it's a pity Mozenrath doesn't have a key or something fun...]

Scar wasn't 'helping' Mozenrath because he 'owed' it to him, but merely figured he could put him to use.

"So you do possess common sense, I am impressed." Scar answered, tone still dry. "In any case, I do not recall you ever telling me how it looks like." Though he had strong doubts a powerful object would be acquired so easily, he figured he might as well play along.

[Neither does Scar XD any direction's fine with me, really XD *so helpful*]

Mozenrath began to lift his skeletal arm to gesture, but winced and instead chose words over display. "It looks much like the glove they force me to wear on this arm. I mean, when it's not bandaged to up to Gomorrah." Why had they gone so overboard with wrapping his arm, anyhow? The princess had only broken his wrist. Of course, he'd determined that for some reason, his captors were ever concerned about the other patients discovering his "bone defect".

Perhaps they feared that if the patients knew what real power looks like, they'd tremble in front of Mozenrath and not them.

[Uhh, uh...I have no preference. They can dick around here for awhile until one of us comes up with something. :P]

Scar wasn't sure what to expect of a 'gauntlet', but that description wasn't too exciting by the sound of it. He supposed to never judge a book by its cover, or in this case, its description.

His green eyes glanced at the bandaged arm. "And why do they insist on covering it?" he asked curiously, not familiar with the concept of bandages.

Mozenrath grimaced. "A stupid wench took it upon herself to break my wrist and I suppose they went a bit overboard. Not exactly the brightest bunch, these ones."

Now that Scar had brought attention to it, though, Mozenrath began unwrapping his upper arm. No sense having excess bandages that could be used to...tie something? Their quality was strong enough, anyhow. And really, he only needed the injured area held in place...

"I see." Scar wondered why a white cloth would help cure a broken bone, but he eventually filed it away as 'one of those strange, human habits' he had seen during his stay.

He watched with curiosity as Mozenrath began unwrapping his arm. The man had implied the broken bone wasn't the only reason they covered it up, considering the 'glove'.

The sorcerer stopped halfway down his lower arm and glanced about. He didn't have the means to cut the bandage off right now. He could have pulled and tried to rip it off, but that would probably hurt. Even when the wrist wasn't cracked, his skeletal arm was a bit sensitive. So much for that idea.

"I don't suppose you have something sharp with you?"

"Not quite." Scar answered. "I am afraid they have deprived me of my claws and fangs before my arrival." The knives he saw during mealtimes weren't even worth mentioning. They barely cut the food properly, let alone a piece of cloth.

"I am afraid they have deprived me of my claws and fangs before my arrival."

That was an interesting confession. Mozenrath tucked the loose bandages between his ulna and radius (that would have to do for now) and arched an eyebrow. "Claws and fangs, you say? What else did they change?"

Perhaps Scar was a demon of some sort, in which Mozenrath would tread very lightly. A demon was something you wanted to garner power from but didn't want to anger. Then again, perhaps Scar was some other fanged and clawed magical being. Maybe he had horns. And oh, if he was a magical being, the power Mozenrath could expect him to possess, just waiting to be drained and forfeited to HIS control...

"May I suggest to remember what others tell you, my dear Mozenrath?" Scar answered, tone condescending. Did the other man have a problem with his memory? "I believe I had already told you what I had been a night or two ago." When the man had confronted him about his walking problems, to be specific.

Unfortunately for Mozenrath, Scar was as un-magical as a creature could get. There wouldn't be any power to drain from him.

Mozenrath's heart fell. Oh, that was right. Scar was a "lion", which wasn't anything to shout about at all. The sorcerer sighed and threw his good hand up. "What was their purpose in kidnapping a lion?!" Really, if there were to be co-inmates, let them be on his level.

He put the hand on his hip. "I don't suppose you have any sort of tracking ability within you still?"
