Day 33: Doctor's Office 6 (Dr. Wilson) [4th Shift]

Jul 03, 2008 16:22

After a fairly successful morning session and a good lunch, Wilson was more than ready for his afternoon patient. He was curious about what had happened to Adel, though, seeing how the teen had never shown up. Maybe he had been rescheduled and would be coming in now, or maybe he had been transferred to another doctor and Wilson hadn't gotten the ( Read more... )

The nurse may as well have told him he was being led off a cliff for all the good it would have done. Kurogane still wasn't back to speed with the world when the next shift changed, so he didn't question the move or why he wasn't being taken with the other patients.

'Therapy', he'd thought he'd heard her say, and that word had been blaring earlier in the day, but he had no idea what it was or meant. He definitely didn't know what it had to do with him. No questioning it now.

The room he was taken to wasn't bright, thank someone, and allowed a bit more focus to return to his eyes since he didn't have to squint so much. The haze cleared enough to where he could make out faces beyond the blurs, and he saw that a strange one was there with him. "Who are you?" he demanded suddenly, not feeling any threat but still not liking that he'd been shoved in alone with someone he didn't know. His body was quickly set on edge, or as on edge as his slowed reflexes could manage.

When the patient was led in, Wilson could immediately tell that something was wrong, both with the man's movements and probably with his vision. The nurse left before he could ask any questions, which meant he would have to try to get it out of Aiden himself.

The man was able to form words, at least, though he was obviously very disoriented. "I'm your doctor," he said, making sure to speak clearly (though not too loudly).

"What's wrong?" he asked, figuring the man would know what he meant, especially since he had just explained who he was. He was more fit to deal with physical symptoms anyway.

He heard the door close behind him, but paid it no mind, keeping what focus he could to the man. Just because he didn't feel any threat did not mean one couldn't be there somewhere.

He listened first as the man spoke, matching the voice to the slightly blurred face for future reference, then released a breath. If anything was wrong it was this damn place. He didn't say as much and instead put his attention to what the man had claimed he was. "Doctor?" he repeated, annoyed. Why did he have a doctor? He hadn't been sick since... he honestly couldn't remember. It had been a long time ago when he'd been just a little kid. Memories like that weren't things he cared for anyway.

And that time when Tomoyo had demanded he try something she'd made didn't count!

The man obviously wasn't processing very well, but Wilson could be patient. "Not that kind of doctor," he explained, trying to go slowly.

"I'm going to try and help you with your mental health, though I'm also certified to deal with physical problems." In fact, he was better trained for that, but there was no reason to get into that with Aiden.

"So what's wrong?" he tried again, resisting the urge to get out of his seat and move over so he could better examine the patient.

It was, for the first time in his life, the only time Adelheid had been late for an appointment. Really, he wasn't entirely sure how that had happened at all; perhaps he'd just been tucked away and the nurse in question had given up? Regardless, as Adelheid was writing on the board, suddenly one of the orderlies had taken him firmly by the shoulder and informed him that he was to head to Dr. Wilson's office... immediately.

Which he did, wondering about that turn of events. Regardless, he made his way as swiftly as he could, knocking on office six's door before letting himself in. "...sorry for being late," he awkwardly apologized as he stepped in and closed the door. Sure, it was a doctor appointment and the man was supposedly an 'enemy,' but being tardy was never acceptable!

Here Wilson had thought that he might have seen the last of Adel, only for the teen to come rushing in soon after Mr. Cross had left. Wilson raised his head and nodded in greeting. "Please don't worry about it. I'm just glad you were able to make it." And he really was glad. While Adel hadn't always been the most sociable of patients, they at least managed to have interesting discussions -- unlike some of the others, who refused to speak at all.

"How've you been?" he asked, gesturing to the seat so that Adel could go ahead and make himself comfortable.

The boy took a deep breath, then nodded and eased down onto the seat. He was glad that Wilson didn't mind, but he still felt a bit bad that he'd missed the appointment. Hopefully this wasn't infringing on another patient's time or anything like that. Or on Doctor Wilson's time, either; after all, this was his last shift before going... wherever the doctors went when they weren't here.

As for the question? Adelheid ran his hand through his hair as he thought of that, then quietly answered, "Better than last time, I suppose. My eye's not quite as sore any longer." Sometimes it was almost possible to forget that it was there... sometimes. "...I should as the same of you."

Wilson was glad that Adel mentioned the eye of his own accord, as that would have been his next question otherwise. He still had no clue how the operation had come about or who had been in charge of it, not that he had really expected to be able to get any information. It was difficult being the one in the dark for once, considering he was on the board back at Princeton-Plainsboro.

When Adel returned the question, Wilson paused for a moment before properly registering. "Oh, me? I've been fine. I've had a lot of new patients this week, so I've been busy with that. Otherwise, it's been the same as always."
