Day 33: Sun Room (4th shift)

Jul 03, 2008 10:17

Momo was planning on heading to the red field, but her instructions from Hitsugaya about her needing to see to Mustang had her going to the Sun Room. The shinigami stood by the door, leaning back against the wall, as she waited for the colonel to appear.

Calm. This is what Mion was going for. Archer and Yukari had both helped really well with that one, and she'd have to thank them for it later. Sure, a random thank you might seem weird, but then again, it wasn't exactly every day you find out that not only did a crazy doctor here give you brain surgery, they... took something out and...

... calm. Don't think about that. Until she actually met the so called... copy thing, she wouldn't think about it. She'd... pretend it didn't exist, that there wasn't something going around hurting people using her name. She should just be glad it hadn't gotten to anyone she knew and be at peace with that.

The girl let out a loud sigh as she sunk into the couch. Why couldn't she be back home, where the only worry she had was what she was going to get the rest of the club to wear for the penalty game? Damn this place...

((waiting for Shion!!))

That woman … things were going to be tricky with her around. Frowning as she entered the Sun Room, Shion took in a deep breath and released it out in a loud sigh, her eyes falling shut as she crossed her arms over her chest. She’d have to be careful to watch herself ( ... )

It took Mion a moment to realize that someone was speaking to her, someone in an eerily familiar voice that for some reason she couldn't pinpoint. And that person seemed to be... threatening her? It didn't sound like much of a threat, but...

The weary girl turned to see who was addressing her, nearly getting out of the seat. The person could have at least chosen a better spot to do this unless they were planning on attempting to snap her neck anyway, but as soon as Mion saw the green hair and the aqua eyes, she literally fell out of her seat.

Now, if she had thought about it, adding in the "threat" and the sheer corniness of the pose the person was in, their real identity might have been a lot clearer to Mion. Of course, not that Mion knew it, but the fact that the doctor had done more to her than take things out wasn't helping her case that much either ( ... )

Well, that had been unexpected.

Shion blinked in surprise as her younger twin literally fell out of her seat and onto the floor, that look of terror all too familiar. Frowning, she slowly moved around the couch and towards her twin. “What do you mean ‘what are you’?”

She was slow in her movements, careful not to startle Mion more than she already was. She didn’t need the attention of the nurses - what with her little outburst yesterday, there was no doubt that the nurses would be relentless in their actions if they saw her “pestering another patient.”

Slowly, Shion kneeled down in front of the frightened girl and reached out to place her hand against Mion’s head, her own head lowering as she tried to look into her younger sister’s eyes. “Geez, what have they done to you, Onee? I thought you’d be able to recognize your own twin sister.”

"You... You know exactly what I..." Mion trailed off as the person, the... whatever it was. She, rather. Or was it still an it even if it was in the body of a girl...? Mion wasn't sure. Did it matter? This was bad, this was not good, this was... touching her on the head now? Mion flinched at the contact, but didn't move other than that.

... Wait... onee? ... twin? But that... she wouldn't call herself that, would...

"Shion?" Mion finally asked after a long pause. Could it be possible that, on the same day, her twin sister had appeared and the doctors had made their science experiment out of her...? It... seemed way too coincidental, but... this person wasn't attacking her, nor was she saying anything about Satoshi... was it possible? "... Shion, is it really you?"

Oh lord, something bad had happened to her sister. Very bad. “Who else would it be? You don’t see many other beautiful, long green haired girl around here, do you?” Shion joked, running her fingers through her younger sister’s hair as she grinned. “Aren’t you happy to see me?”

Happy? She might not have been happy if she had awoken in this strange place after she had been shoved off of the cliff. Maybe that was why Mion was being cautious - maybe that was why she was afraid.

Or maybe she was just letting things get to her head.

… Or maybe someone had spoken to her sister before she had seen her? Had someone instilled something in Mion’s head - a warning? Something, anything?

“Why don’t we get off of the floor? We’re going to draw attention …”

"Well... Honestly I'd be much happier knowing you were safe at home..." Mion replied quietly, tensing up at the touch of her sister. It wasn't so much that she thought it was the thing anymore, as much as it was if she went a little deeper into her sister's hair she might find a patch of hair too short - almost not there, in fact - and stitches around a harder part of skull.

"Off the... r-right!" Hopping right up and getting herself back onto the couch. Not only did Shion have a point, it got her away from Mion's head, and those two things were more than enough to get Mion moving; previous thoughts about what the doctors had done to her or not.

Something was off about her sister, that much was obvious. And what with the way the woman from last time kept talking about headaches, it made Shion curious as to what exactly had happened to her sister’s head. Perhaps she’d be able to ask later. Shrugging at the comment about her being home, the teen quickly followed after her younger sister and flopped herself down on the couch.

Turning towards her sister with a bright smile, Shion leaned back against the couch, her eyes watching Mion with interest. “Sooooo, long time no talk, Onee. How’ve you been? How long have you been here for? Meet any cute boys?”

… all in all, it felt … strange to be able to speak to her sister in such a casual tone. It had been rare to be able to joke around with Mion before having been brought to Landel’s, and the fact that she was able to within the asylum’s walls? A strange occurrence located in an even stranger setting.

"... How long have I been here for?" Mion put a finger to her chin and looked up at the ceiling. Had it been a week yet? Longer, less? It was feeling like it had been an eternity, all things considered; choosing to pretend she hadn't heard the remark about cute boys and how she'd been. She'd gotten enough teasing from Archer today, and she didn't really want to go into how she felt; she was hoping it wasn't that obvious anyway. "It's been a while..."

There had been the first few nights, with Celes, Larsa, and that other man... Then she had met Rena, and then Beatrix and Hanyuu... then of course that night...

"... Around a week, maybe," Mion said finally, giving up trying to remember it all. She sighed again. "With how this place is, it's kind of hard to keep track."

… Around a week?

Shion’s eyes flew wide at that - a week? It had felt like yesterday since she had killed her sister, and yet … she had been in this place for so long? “A … week? That’s … I spoke to you a few days ago, Onee …” perhaps speak wasn’t the right term. Either way, she had seen her sister a few days ago. She couldn’t have possibly been here for that long.

… Unless Mion was lying. Hiding something from her.

Growing wary of her sister, Shion sighed and frowned, tilting her head back as she let out an exasperated sigh. “Bo-ring. I got here yesterday. I do know what you mean by things passing by strangely, though.”

A few moments of silence, and Shion lifted her head to look at Mion, a sly grin crossing her lips. “I met a friend of yours earlier. She couldn’t tell us apart, so I pretended to be you. It went without fail, of course.”

There was another moment of silence, and soon her face softened, her eyes growing worried as she appraised her younger sibling. “… How’s your head?”

"Yeah... Rena had been here for a few days or so before I got her too, and that's pretty much what I said to her too, at that time," Mion remembered how confused Rena had been at first, though they had gotten past it rather quickly... After all, with all of the things this place did and where it took people from... Well, that should be the least of someone's worries, at least that was how Mion had been looking at it since then. "It's best not to worry about that, I think. What's important is that, well, we're alive and kicking and this place isn't going to beat us, you know ( ... )

“Rena-chan?” Ryuugu Rena. Shion’s fingers gripped tightly onto the couch at the mere mention of the girl, her head turning in another direction as she narrowed her eyes towards the wall. That girl … she had ruined everything. Her and that miserable Maebara Keiichi -

No, she didn’t have time to think of things like that. What she had to think about now was her sister. It was strange - she knew she should have been feeling angry with Mion for lying about Satoshi - where else could he have gone? - but she just couldn’t find it in herself to be mad. She had to look at this … appearing in Landel’s thing as a positive, right? And right now, what Mion needed was something positive.

Everything Mion did, everything she said … all just made Shion worry all the more for her younger sister ( ... )

Mion glanced at her sister for a moment, curious as to why bringing up Rena had made turn away. Did Shion even know Rena well enough to have any kind of reaction? Deciding it wasn't important, Mion said nothing and just looked back in front of her, not paying as much attention to her own worries anymore. Or at least, trying not to. Shion was already here, so... might as well move past that instead of wishing she was safe at home.

And then suddenly there were... arms around here and fingers in her hair? Though she didn't push away right away, if Shion got too close to that one spot on her head, she'd have no choice... "S-Shion, I'm fine, what are you..."

Shion was quiet, her fingers running over her sister’s back as she shut her eyes in thought. She wasn’t going to push what was wrong with her sister - not yet, anyway. She was sure she’d find out sooner or later … one way or another.

After being silent for a few seconds more, the teenager finally opened her mouth to speak, pulling back so she could look at her twin with a grin. “Say, Onee. How about you and I hang out tonight? I can come get you if you. There’s just something I gotta do before I come and get you?”

Or rather, there was something she had to get. If that strange woman took too long, she’d just go and get her sister anyway.

“I mean, if you have no other plans.”

Shion didn't answer her unfinished question, though it wasn't like she needed to. Mion could obviously see... well, no, feel what she was doing. Mion was glad that the topic of "what was wrong", one she planned on denying for now, seemed to be dropped, though she supposed she'd have to tell her eventually... maybe after that 'other' her was dealt with?

"Tonight?" Mion blinked. She... hadn't really had any plans, though she had assumed Arlene and Rena would want her help again... and she had thought about looking for the other her herself, so... "No, I don't have any plans that I can think of. What do you have to do?"

Grinning, Shion ran a hand through her hair at Mion’s question, her eyebrows shooting up as she put on an innocent face. “Oh, you know. See a few people, make sweet talk, get something. It’s a surprise. It may take a few nights to get, but I’m sure I’ll be getting my hands on it sooner or later, and then we’ll be fine, okay?”

The announcements had gone off - sighing, Shion stayed still on the couch, turning to look towards her twin even as she saw the nurses beginning to escort the other patients out. “What’s your room number? We can figure out what to do after.”
