By the time fourth shift came, Renamon was mentally tired. Even though she was able to somewhat sort her thoughts last shift, since Kaneyoshi had never shown, she was still a more somber fox than she usually was. As much as she didn't want to believe it, she was starting to think that she was looking for connections where there weren't any

Outside. Yuffie liked being outside.
The nurse accompanying her had patiently listened to her chattering all the way from the cafeteria. Not about anything important, of course. Inane stuff- the colour of the walls, the number of patients, and why couldn’t the uniform be green? Had patiently attempted to reign her in when the skip in her step got a little out of hand. Had just handed her a 'Frisbee' and told her to have fun, but to be on her best behaviour; no trouble, please!
Yuffie looked at the Frisbee, looked at the nurse, and grinned broadly. "No worries," she said with a salute, before she launched herself into an exuberant set of cartwheels.
Skidding to a halt once she was a good distance away, the young ninja bounced up and down a few times, taking stock of the area. It wasn't as big as she would've liked, and it was kind of plain; a flat area of grass with a couple of goal-posts at either end, and not much else (other than a few people, though it was still relatively empty).
Still, it was outside! Fresh air ( ... )

Kairi couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief as she was led out to the Recreational field, her eyes falling shut as she felt the soft breeze on her face. Just to be outside was a pleasant change in scenery.
Lifting her arms over her head, the once princess stretched all the way from the tips of her fingers to the tips of her toes, a content yawn escaping her lips soon after. A good stretch always put her in a better mood!
Opening her eyes, Kairi saw someone that looked vaguely familiar. Blinking in surprise, she moved close to the girl, her head tilted to the side in slight question. She looked familiar, but … didn’t? There was only one way to find out. “Yuffie?”

She had been content to ignore the presence of the other person- she'd noticed them approach, heard their footsteps, and hadn't recognized them. The newcomer seemed harmless, though, and most of Yuffie's attention remained on disc.
Until she heard her name, that was.
Yuffie caught the disk behind her back with her left hand, tossing it quickly over her head again and to her right hand. "Huh?" She asked intelligently, turning a little to face the newcomer more directly.
Red hair, blue-violet eyes that were a little similar to her own... Just a kid; she couldn't be any older than Yuffie herself had been when she'd first joined up with Avalanche. And was it just her, or did the interloper look a little roughed up..?
"Who're you?" She blurted.
It wasn't like she'd never strangers recognize her, but here? What were the chances? And the uncertain, surprised way the kid was acting...

well, this was awkward. Perhaps they could just start over now?
“But, yes. It’s nice to meet you! … again.” A pause, and the once princess tilted her head to the side, a curious smile crossing her lips. “That was pretty cool, what you were doing with the Frisbee.”

Before this morning, the ninja would've called the red-head insane. But it was after this morning, and Yuffie was willing to let it go with minimum fuss (plenty of raised eyebrow, though; she was pretty sure her brows were right up there with her hairline by the time the other girl had finished talking). It was getting awkward, so maybe ignoring it would be the best.
Yeah. That sounded like a plan!
She shook her head quickly, consciously re-arranged her face into a smile, and held the disc up. "Heh, that? That was nothing!" Yuffie boasted, "We could play, if you want?"

If she remembered properly, Yuffie had been … what was it? A ninja? Ninjas were good at throwing things, so it made sense that this Yuffie was still good at it. Perhaps she was a ninja in her other life as well? It made perfect sense.
Moving closer to the black haired girl, Kairi cracked her knuckles and grinned, standing with her arms crossed over her chest as she waited.

"The real question," Yuffie replied, matching the grin with one of her own, "is what can't I do with it?"
Even as she spoke, she launched into a series of tricks; a quick overhand wrist flip sent the disc flying. Fast but fancy catch-and-release maneuvers kept it in the air with minimum contact, and Yuffie soon began showing off by sending the Frisbee into complicated loops, arcs and spirals. Carefully controlled, but all executed with an almost careless grace that made it look easy.
Which it was, for Yuffie. She'd been playing with discs like this since she could walk.

“You do it all so easily! It must have taken you a long time to learn to do tricks like that! I’m envious.” It was like Sora whenever he fought with the keyblade; the boy moved so simply and quickly, he made it seem too easy. “Maybe someday I can learn some tricks like that. So far all the cool things I know how to do involve swimming and seashells.” A laugh, and Kairi tilted her head back to watch the Frisbee fly through the air.

Rolling the disc down from her shoulder, Yuffie flicked her wrist upwards and caught the Frisbee with a flourish. "Awesome, isn't it?" she bowed to Kairi, extravagent and playful. "I've been playin' with these things for as long as I can remember."
"You like the sea?" Grinning, she held the disc in a basic backhand position- her right arm, holding the disc, crossed over the front of her body. She shifted her feet, sliding fluidly so that she was standing sideways to the red-haired. An unspoken invitation.
Hey, if Kairi wanted to learn a little... Besides, it could be fun to just play a simple game of throw-and-catch, with a few tricks mixed in for kicks.

Throwing the Frisbee back to Yuffie, Kairi smiled, her eyes becoming pleading. “You think you could teach me a few tricks? I’d love to show my friends back home a thing or two!”
Or, at least she could show Sora something. She was sure he’d be surprised by all of the tricks she could do if she learned some!

And then she looked over at her companion. Big mistake.
Kairi was using the pleading eyes. The pleading eyes! Yuffie frequently used them herself, but that didn't render her immune to their effects. Unfortunately.
"Well," she drawled after a moment, "I guess I can try."
Still twirling the disc, she walked over to Kairi with a spring in her step. This couldn't be any harder than teaching kids ninjutsu, could it?

Still, she couldn’t help but be excited. “Thanks! I’ll have to practice in my spare time, too. Then when I get good enough I can show you!” a laugh, and Kairi tilted her head to the side, awaiting instructions. “Nothing too hard. Something easy, then we can work up, hm?”
With a grin, Kairi lifted her hands up towards Yuffie as if she was begging for something, her eyes bright. “I’m all yours, teacher.”

She held up the disc, studying it for a moment, before grinning and holding it out for the other girl... who was, fortunately enough, not a hellish brat like Yuffie herself had been for her tutors. This was gonna be fun!
The grin widened slightly. "We'll start with the basics, then," she said, putting on a mock-authoritive voice. "Show me how you'd hold it, as if you were gonna throw."

Listening to Yuffie, Kairi nodded and took the Frisbee into her hands and held it as she was told to do. Keeping only one hand on the disk, her fingers curled around one end while her other hung limply at her side, her knees bent slightly, as if she were indeed about to throw it.
Turning her head towards Yuffie, she tilted her head to the side. “What next?”

Hopping back a little, the ninja circled a little, studying Kairi's stance critically. It wasn’t bad, and she gave a little nod of approval.
"Next is the throw," she said. "One of the tricks I use is to get the disc to come back, and for it to come back accurately. After you master that, you can do all sorts of fun stuff."
“When you throw, you gotta step into it,” she demonstrated, as though she was holding a Frisbee herself, “Just shifting your weight forward can work as well. Rotating your shoulders, hips and legs adds momentum and stops the throw from goin’ all wonky, but the real trick is getting the angle right, which depends on the wrist and arm position…”
Stepping back to the red-head, she adjusted the angle the girl was holding the Frisbee at just a little. “Y‘can try ( ... )

Watching closely, the once princess nodded her head here and there as she memorized everything Yuffie was saying. Step into the throw, rotate shoulders, hips and legs, wrist and arm position were the key. Easy enough stuff to remember - it vaguely reminded her of all the times she would watch Sora and Riku fight.
Waiting until her armw as repositioned, Kairi hesitated for a moment before stepping into her throw and tossing the Frisbee as she had been told, her eyes watching the disk as it flew through the air and finally made it’s way back towards them.
… But, it was as Yuffie had expected. When Kairi went out to grab back onto the disk, the spin had been too much, and she winced back from grabbing it, letting out a slight wince, followed by a laugh. “Whoops. I guess it was a little too spinny.”
