Day 33: Lunch

Jun 30, 2008 07:50

There was a knot in Sai's stomach as he was led back inside to the cafeteria. It was an unfamiliar feeling, and he tried to ignore it. What was it? Was he actually uncomfortable with his decision? He couldn't afford to be. This alliance with Itachi was crucial, and he'd just have to try and make sure the others saw it that way ( Read more... )

[Free!]

Even the fish were beyond recognizable...

Before acquiring his meal, he had good hopes of at least eating something he liked. Those same hopes instantly sank through the floor as soon as he lay eyes on what was supposed to be called 'fish'. Making a face, he carried his plate towards an empty seat.

These humans had remarkably talent for ruining an otherwise perfectly fine meal, Scar thought as he glared at the offensive excuse of a fish. Why did they insist on heating everything?! Didn't they ever hear of 'eating things raw'? Apparently not...

With a sigh, he began scraping away the breading with his fork.

(I like free things! Are this okay?)

Faust had enjoyed his talk with the man outside, only realizing as he was led away by the nurse that he had failed to get his name. How rude he was, to not remember to offer his own. perhaps he would see him again and they could talk.

For now, food seemed to be on the agenda, something he wasn't overly fond of, but it seemed to make the staff happy and he was in a decent mood, so, why not? The fish looked fine, though he wasn't fond of breading the meat, and a salad would do wonders to improve his mood. Picking a seat next to a gentleman who looked close enough to his own age, he sat down with a small smile.

After he had scraped away the breading, Scar at least tasted something remotely similar to fish. It was different than he was used to, but at least not ridiculously sweet as some of the other meals these humans liked to serve.

His green eyes glanced up as a man took the seat next to him. "Good afternoon." he greeted politely.

"Hello," Faust responded to the polite greeting. "I hope you don't mind me joining you."

He found he had less chance of ... upsetting people that were closer to him in age. He looked down at his food and started in on the salad, choosing food over conversation for the moment. Now that he was eating, he found he was actually rather hungry.

"I don't." Scar answered. Though it stood as a fact that anyone joining him during the various day shift was practically inevitable. Such a thing occurred more often during the meals, however.

He took another bite from his meal, noting this man didn't appear to be too talkative.

His hunger somewhat curbed, he looked over at the other man and smiled. "Forgive my lack of manners. My name is Faust." He bowed his head slightly, too much time spent with Yoh and his friends altering his behavior.

"I don't believe we've met."

At least this...'Faust' had some manners, unlike a few other patients he had ran into. Scar answered with a polite smile of his own.

"I indeed believe we haven't." He said. "I am called Scar."

The name didn't faze Faust in the least. He'd heard much stranger over the years, and at least this man actually had a scar to possibly explain the name.

"Well then, Scar. It is a pleasure to meet you though I certainly wish we were meeting under better circumstances. I hope your imprisonment here has not been as bad as some."

"A pleasure indeed." Scar answered before taking another bite of his lunch. He could indeed think of some more fortunate circumstances than those within this institute. The King would rather be home, on his rightful throne, where everything wasn't as outright weird or embarrassing.

"Well, this place is hardly a paradise." he eventually answered. "Though I suppose it could always get worse. How about you?" He might as well keep up the pleasantries by showing - or maybe feigning, in Scar's case - some interest. Perhaps he'd stumble upon a useful bit of information along the way.
