Day 33: Lunch

Jun 30, 2008 07:50

There was a knot in Sai's stomach as he was led back inside to the cafeteria. It was an unfamiliar feeling, and he tried to ignore it. What was it? Was he actually uncomfortable with his decision? He couldn't afford to be. This alliance with Itachi was crucial, and he'd just have to try and make sure the others saw it that way ( Read more... )

[Free!]

Tyki carried his plate towards an empty seat, not really looking where he was sitting down. The free food was definitely one of the few good things in this place. At least he didn't have to steal the fish from a pond for once, as he usually did whenever he visited Japan. Well, it wasn't his fault those Koi were so tasty...

He glanced around the cafeteria from behind his glasses. Rhode nor Walker were in here yet, or anyone else he knew. He shifted his gaze back towards his meal, and began eating.

[Have a wizard? XD]

This place had such strange meals, Shana decided, as she eyed what was on her plate. The nurse assured her it was fish, but at the moment, she wasn't so sure. At least it smelled like fish. Mostly. Still, most of what she'd eaten here so far had tasted alright, so she'd give this a try, too.

Looking around for a seat or a familiar face - none of which she immediately recognized - she spotted a young man sitting by himself and made her way in that direction, offering him a hesitant smile as she hovered by an empty seat.

"Would you mind if I joined you?"

[Sure!]

"Eh?" Tyki hadn't spotted the girl approaching, and was jerked out of his thoughts by her question. His surprised expression quickly changed into a smile, though. Even despite being a member of the Noah Clan, he wasn't all that bad against random humans. Especially if they were lucky enough to run into his white side rather than his black.

"Not at all, miss...?" His voice trailed off in a question. 'Redhead' was already taken by the fella from breakfast, and there was something about giving everyone a nickname.

"Shana," she supplied, flashing him a bright smile as she sank down across from him. "And thank you. I hope I didn't interrupt your thinking?" He had looked rather far away when she'd walked up.

"Nah, it's OK." Tyki answered with a grin. "Name's Tyki. Nice to meet'cha!" He took another bite from his lunch, deciding that it tasted pretty good.

"You, too," she agreed, watching him eat the strange version of fish with interested curiosity.

"Is that any good?" she asked after a moment, pointing her fork at his plate and then glancing down at her own strange-looking food. It didn't look like a fish at all. What had they done to it?

"It is." Tyki admitted. "It's a bit strange, but not bad." He could think of some fish that tasted better, but if he could afford to get fed on a regular basis like this, he'd be happy with pig slop. That was just one of the bad sides of his human life; the part where he was starving most of the time.

"And it's free, right?" The Noah added, grinning. As if to strengthen his point, he took another bite.

"I guess so," she agreed with a grin and laugh. "It just looks.... very different from what I'm used to eating. It doesn't look much like a fish, does it?" she dded, but tried a bite anyways. After a moment of concentration, she smiled again, deciding she liked it. "It is good!"

"Told ya so!" Tyki answered, grin growing slightly wider. He glanced back towards his own meal, poking the few bits that remained of his lunch with his fork. "Guess you're right, though. But it smells like fish." And unless his smell was lying to him, then this most certainly was fish.

"It does," she agreed, munching on it contentedly now. "Do you come from a world like this one?" she asked curiously. Finding out about the other realms all the patients had been drawn from was fascinating to her. Mostly because she'd never imagined there could possibly be so many.

"Besides this joint I haven't seen much from this world." Tyki admitted, looking thoughtful for a moment. "But I guess it's pretty similar. I'm from Earth, somewhere in the 19th century last time I checked. Ring any bells?"

The whole issue about different realms didn't surprise him as much as it should, but he guessed that had to do with his life as a Noah.

Shana shook her head apologetically. "Sorry, my world is nothing like this, in time or with all the things they have here. My realm is vastly different. Maybe we would have become like this once, but this world has no or little magic in it, while it is quite a bit more abundant in my own. And the elves rule there, not humans."
