Day 33: Recreational Field

Jun 26, 2008 04:45

Guy let out a sigh of relief as he made his way out onto the field, glad to have some fresh air and sunshine after going so many days without it. That was one of the hardest things about being kept in this place, in his opinion. At least during their journey they had been outside more often than not ( Read more... )

The conversation with Nakago had been interesting, and it was almost a pity they were about to be herded to the next activity. A quick observation of some of the other patients made Scar conclude he had no desire to partake in any of these human games, even aside from the fact he considered himself too old for immature activities such as 'playing'. He was no longer a clueless cub, after all.

Seating himself on the grass - making sure he was out of harm's way - he merely observed the humans present on this area. It wasn't like he had anything else to do, after all.

[hope you don't mind. :3]

Toboe finished wolfing down his food as the voice-from-the-wall announced that they were going to be going outside. Outside! And the sun was shining, though it felt kinda weird feeling the sun against human skin instead of wolf fur.

He happily kicked off his slippers and ran awkwardly around the open space (it was so much easier to keep his balance with four legs and a tail, and he wasn't used to being so slow,) before flopping down near a dark haired man.

"Hi!" Toboe greeted. "Why're you just sitting here? It's so nice out!"

[Not at all! ^^]

Even despite the humans playing a small distance away, Scar happened to enjoy being outside. Being inside for so long was almost claustrophobic, and the fresh air was at least something he was a little familiar with even with the different climate compared to his home world.

The King had noticed the young boy approaching, taking note of the way he ran around the field before sitting down next to him. This was enough to interest the former lion, even when the first sentence he spoke somewhat reminded him of Simba.

"Good morning." he greeted back politely. "I suppose I am a little too old for these games." Not to mention that he didn't even understand the logic of kicking a round object around the field.

"Shouldn't you be playing along?"

Toboe paused for a moment, watching the people playing on the field--he had to admit, the thought of chasing something was pretty tempting. But no one would ever believe he wasn't a puppy if he kept on running off after anything that moved, and even though he was a person here, he had to keep from going back to that habit. Tsume would make fun of him if he didn't.

"Nah. That's a pup's game."

Evidently he was forgetting (or didn't notice in the first place) that his behavior was very puppy-like, too. And that he was only two years old.

"A pup's game?" Scar echoed. Now, that was an interesting way of putting it. He offered the boy a questionable glance, wondering why he used 'pup' instead of simply using...whatever word humans used for a non-adult. A pup was often used for canine species, was it not?

Oops, Toboe'd let that one slip. He shrugged. "Yeah. I mean, chasing a ball around? That's something a kid would do."

Hopefully he'd let it go. Toboe needed to watch what words he used...

So now suddenly a kid, hmmm? Scar's cat-like eyes kept glancing suspiciously at the boy, but wondered what it would gain him if he'd press the subject. Most likely nothing.

"I suppose you are right." he finally answered. "What is your name?"

"My name's Toboe. What's yours?" The wolf-boy smiled brightly, eager to make another friend.

Toboe, such a strange name...but at the very least unfamiliar.

"I am called Scar." he answered before shifting his gaze from the boy to the humans running around on the field. It was curious how they considered such a game any fun.
