Guy let out a sigh of relief as he made his way out onto the field, glad to have some fresh air and sunshine after going so many days without it. That was one of the hardest things about being kept in this place, in his opinion. At least during their journey they had been outside more often than not

Without the medium of school and family to get him up early in the morning, he felt it was still too early for the staff to be dragging around their victims like this. Especially to be told that guys and girls were going to spend the “activity” shifts all split up. The fuck was with that? As if having absolutely nothing to do but seriously consider smashing someone’s head in with a chair wasn’t bad enough.
Everything was just set up against Reid. He didn’t like to be stuck indoors for long periods, he didn’t like inactivity, and he didn’t like being treated like a kid. Oh yeah, and he didn’t like losing his Power, being dumped in a horror house, and getting as paranoid as their fearless leader when he wondered why he hadn’t seen Tyler at breakfast.
He kicked around outside after ignoring the motherly encouragement from his nurse, the old hag handing him a soccer ball and sending him on his way. Definitely a soccer field in the light of day, and now that he could see, he could pick out the spots where he and that transsexual dude had scaled the shortest of the walls and been attacked by those bats. Had to wonder what was all on the other side, or better yet, what was on the other side of the three other walls. That was an easy one. Started with an ‘f’ and ended with him putting his foot up the ass of whoever had put them here.
Reid didn't seriously play a whole lot of sports, per say, but he had potential if he wanted to--drop-kicking the ball as hard as he could without shoes, he tried to boot it clear over the far wall. It was a good effort, considering it hit the wall only a foot too low, bouncing off with a hard whoomph and hitting the grass near a grey lump.

"You missed," he called as he threw the ball back.

If he'd known, Reid thought he probably would've tried to hit him on purpose, which was a thought that held less carefree joking than it normally would.
Whether it was night or not, things still weren't... normal.

"How was breakfast?"
Reply
"You know how it is. Food. Eating. Waiting until dark so you can have your Power back again. The usual."
He wasn't exactly a believer in making good out of a bad situation. All he'd--they'd--ever done was make the bad situation go away.

"Think Caleb and Pogue are out there somewhere?"
Reply
"Where else would they be? Probably thinking... we're out on a joyride or something." Reid kept his eyes on the ball, tensing his hands and pressing the ball with his palms until it warped inward from the pressure. He didn't know. He didn't know a lot of things, like how he and Tyler had even got here.
But every day they were here was one day closer to Pogue's Ascension. And Caleb was already the man of the hour, how come he wasn't doing anything? It wasn't really his better sense that made him think that way.
"Look, Ty," he started, pausing to press his lips together. Something he should say, but didn't want to. Or maybe something he wanted to say, but couldn't. He breathed through his nose for a moment.

"Yeah?" he asked, lifting a hand to shade his eyes from the sun as he squinted up at the blond.

Which it was, sort of, but like Power and gravity, it was still there even if it wasn't walking around with a sign.
Caleb had always been the delicate one of the group, so it wasn't like Reid was any good at addressing topics that made him uncomfortable. He didn't even know why it did.
He worked the ball between his hands for a little while longer. "This whole thing shouldn't get to us," Reid finally said. And by 'this whole thing' he didn't entirely mean the situation on a whole. And by 'shouldn't get to us' he didn't entirely mean the off chance of being driven to a nervous breakdown by nurses and monsters. "So..." He trailed off, flipping the ball in his fingers once more. Then he lobbed it at Tyler without warning. "So that's what I wanted to say."
Reply
"Okay," he replied, to give a reply, to give him time to think of a better reply while his brain scrambled to figure out which whole thing - or just the whole thing in general - Reid was referring to. And whether the blond wanted him to agree or not. Conversations with Reid could, at times, be a veritable minefield.
"You're right," he finally answered, still squinting up at the blond. "It shouldn't. We've faced worse, right?" Had they? Maybe. But they'd never had to face it without their Power. Not really.

Ascensions and Chase Collins aside, anyway.
Outsiders didn’t come between them, and whatever outsiders had to say.
"Not that I’m in the habit of taking your advice," Reid added.

He stepped closer to the other boy in one long stride, leaning down to ruffle Tyler's hair and push his head back at the same time, encouraging a flop back. Then he relented and straightened again, playful for the time being.

"So you keep telling me," he replied, sounding bemused as he squinted one eye open to peer up at the blond. "But I think you know less than me, so where does that leave us?"

Although he joked about Tyler’s lack of street smarts (which might have been better coming from someone like Pogue than someone like Reid, who had traded in ‘common sense’ for more street smarts than was necessary for a rich kid in Ipswich), it was more like Reid just didn’t listen whether advice was good or bad. He liked to think Tyler only reached his full potential barricaded in a library.
He didn't feel like sitting, and instead scuffed his foot against some grass.

It wasn't funny, not really, but it made it easier to deal with if he could at least laugh at it. He hated feeling like his hands were tied.
"So do you have any plans for tonight?"
