Day 33: Recreational Field

Jun 26, 2008 04:45

Guy let out a sigh of relief as he made his way out onto the field, glad to have some fresh air and sunshine after going so many days without it. That was one of the hardest things about being kept in this place, in his opinion. At least during their journey they had been outside more often than not ( Read more... )

While Peter was glad that he had been able to help out a new patient even a little bit, he was also hoping he could find Claire already. Nathan had run into her, so he was wondering how it was that he kept missing the girl. The fact that there were so many patients crowded into one room combined with the fact that she was so small made it more of a challenge ( ... )

Having just been reunited with Claire, all Bennet wanted to do right now was remain close to her. Unfortunately, the most recent shift change was going to make that rather difficult. He couldn't stop thinking about her, even as he was lead outside.

Noah disliked this feeling. Being so close to Claire, but not knowing if anything was going to happen to her…

Out on the field, Bennet watched the patients, the younger ones in particular, indulged in various activities. While he supposed there was no harm in partaking of such distractions, it was not something he was going participate in himself. Those years were well behind him, of course.

The most ideal way to spend the time, in his opinion, was to find someone to converse with to get more information. As luck would have it, he encountered yet another familiar face.

"Peter...?"

Having spotted Nathan as he exited onto the field, Peter had been surprised that his brother hadn't come over to meet him. Then again, it was probably better if they focused on getting more information and also making more contacts. Besides, not much had happened last night, so it wasn't like they needed to check up on each other or discuss anything. Well, trying to form a larger plan might be a good idea, but...

A voice coming from his side was enough to distract him, but it didn't register until he turned to see who it was.

"Mr. Bennet?" he returned with wide eyes. Of all the people to show up here, he certainly hadn't expected Claire's dad. It was only after he had gotten the words out that he realized the man had asked him to call him by his first name, but it was too late for that now.

"I can't believe... Even you're here?" Peter brushed his hair out of his eyes and let out a sigh. If even Noah Bennet had been trapped by this place, it made their chances of escape even worse.

This was truly unusual. The last time he had seen Peter was when he and his brother had flown towards the sky before the resulting explosion.

"Since yesterday afternoon, and I'm as surprised as you are." Despite the surprise, Noah was glad to have him present. As past experiences demonstrated, the younger Petrelli brother was someone he could depend on. Having at least one trusted individual went a long way inside an Institute full of unfamiliar and potentially dangerous individuals.

"How... have you been?"

He seemed to be pretty healthy for someone who had produced a rather impressive nuclear blast not too long ago.

While it was really bothersome to know that even Mr. Bennet could be taken by the people in charge of this place, it was also good to know that there was one more person around who would be looking out for Claire. And if anyone could find a way to get them out, it was Bennet.

Peter was a little surprised when the man asked about how he was, though Bennet almost always made an attempt to be polite.

"All right, I guess. I mean, being stuck in this place isn't good, but it could be worse, maybe." At least he hadn't been tortured or had his powers tested and pushed to their limits or anything like that. At least he stood a chance against the monsters, even if they did seem to enjoy ripping his back to shreds.

"Claire's here, did you know? So is Nathan and... this girl named Elle? I'm supposed to know her, but I think I'm missing some memories." Or he had never experienced them in the first place, but the reasoning didn't matter too much.

"That's good to know."

"Yes, I've already seen and talked to her. She's doing... well enough. I haven't met Nathan, though." So, the older brother was also among their roster. Like Peter, he knew that Nathan would watch over Claire. However, Bennet couldn't help but feel a bit... uncertain about potentially running into him.

Chances were that Nathan was still sore over what happened in Vegas, among other things.

"Elle...?" Though alarmed at that Peter was also suffering memory problems, the name certainly did more than ring a few bells. "Tell me, does have she have blue eyes, blonde hair, and is particularly sociable?"

Glad to hear that the father and daughter had found each other, Peter felt a lot better about Claire being here. It didn't defeat the fact that they were all captured, but if they all worked together then they might just have a chance of getting everyone out.

Strangely enough, it sounded like Mr. Bennet had heard of Elle. "Yeah, that was her. How do you know her?"

Before they could get any farther, though, the intercom went off, which meant that the nurses were soon separating all of the patients so they could be taken back to the cafeteria.

"I'll try to get a hold of you over the bulletin," he quickly told the older man before a nurse got a hold of him.
