For the second time that night, the radios clicked on. There was no music, only soft, whining static. And under it, the suggestion of heavy breathing. This continued for a few moments, the sounds faint and nothing like the normal radio broadcasts that had come regularly since anyone in the institute could remember, from either Jack or his successor, Jill.
Finally, a voice joined the static. It was quiet and harsh, a hissed whisper that was unidentifiable as even male or female. Only three staggered words were spoken, before the static resumed.
Don’t…trust…radio….
The whining static resumed for a few moments before fading out completely.
