[from here]This should be the last hallway they needed. Kurikara blocked out the snatches of conversation he'd heard in the previous hallway. Not his concern, not now

Nodding, Sai prepared to lead on in the direction indicated. Wishing ill will on others wasn't a very nice thing to do, but all the same it would be easier on the two of them if whoever was already in the hall took care of any monsters before they got to them.
Then the radio crackled to life, and the ninja froze in place to listen. He wasn't used to having the item around, and he found it interesting how it apparently turned on without any outside assistance. He actually bent closer to Mello to hear better.
But then very little was said. Why was that? And what were they saying? Not to trust the radio? ...How odd. Why would someone over the radio be telling them not to trust the radio? Should they then not trust this voice that was telling them not to trust it, because it was over the radio as well? That would make the normal personalities the truthful ones. Or was it alone supposed to be telling the truth?
It was baffling, but in the end it didn't matter. They weren't following any of the clues tonight anyway. Sai simply frowned in response to the message and kept on the way he'd originally intended.
When the radio turned itself on Mello's hand slid into his pocket, automatically testing for physical change. None, though he could feel the slight vibration of the speaker the same way he'd expected. He'd dissected a radio and found nothing out of the ordinary, but it was possible he didn't know what he was looking for. He'd get Matt to examine one later.
"What do you know about the radio?" he asked as he followed the dim silhouette. He didn't expect to find any hard facts, especially considering Sai didn't usually carry one, but the ninja had been around long enough to hear rumors. "Does the broadcast come from inside the institute? Why did the first broadcaster claim to want to help us?" The bulletin board posts had been filled with fond feelings for Jack, but Mello knew very little about him.
After they'd passed the hallway's other two occupants, Mello switched on his flashlight and directed the beam towards the dark space that probably marked their next turn.
"I don't know much about it," Sai remarked without looking back at Mello, choosing instead to keep his eyes on the hall ahead of them. "But I believe it comes from inside, yes. The previous speaker seemed to know the Head Doctor on a personal level. They had something of a... rivalry?" Perhaps that wasn't the right term. "More than that, maybe."
He turned and began making his way towards the file room. "The night before he was killed, it seems he came out of hiding and met with patients in the building somewhere. I didn't have the opportunity to meet him."
