Nightshift 32: M51-M60 Hallway

The lights went out, and Edgeworth prepared for the excursion at hand. He put on his coat, slipped several fresh scalpels into his left pocket, and put the scalpels for Claude in the right pocket. He tucked his notebook and a pen into the left inner pocket of his coat and took the pillowcases off his bed, folding them neatly and putting them into ( Read more... )

Hiei didn't stop until he found himself outside Kurikara's door, the trip not taking long at all. That was good, as the demon and the dragon would need as much time as possible to gather Kurikara's supplies. It especially didn't help that at least so far as the demon was concerned, he had no idea where to get any of the things Kurikara had mentioned the night before.

But someone should. If not Kurikara, then maybe that roommate of his. Never one to have the patience to wait, Hiei didn't bother to knock before he walked in the door.

Kurikara was already on his feet when Hiei walked in, sword balanced carefully on his uninjured shoulder. He grinned at the demon, making his way to the door. "Let's go. This room is driving me crazy."

"It's good to see you aren't wasting any time." Or doing anything stupid, but Hiei thought the last part went without saying. Maybe now that Kurikara had his sword back while still of his right mind, he'd stop blaming himself for the events two nights ago.

Hiei certainly hoped so. They didn't have time to waste while the demon kicked the dragon's ass.

"Do you know where you're going?" Hiei certainly didn't have a clue, and it wouldn't shock him if Kurikara got too eager and they spent half the night wandering around completely lost. The best case scenario, however, was that Kurikara had actually bothered to ask directions, something Hiei wasn't prone to doing.

The room was driving Kurikara crazy? Was he counting Sai as part of that?

Well, it didn't matter. The ninja stood up just after his roommate did and gave Hiei a slight bow. Then he performed a few short stretches to make sure most of the numbness had left his limbs. Hopefully his combat abilities wouldn't have been jeopardized.

"Good luck to both of you," he said with a smile before gathering up his trowels and flashlight. The next moment he was out the door.

"Yeah, you too." Kurikara called after him less than casually.

Not that Sai would know, but Kurikara thought he was on fairly decent terms with his roommate. It really was the room that was driving him crazy. Being cooped up all day didn't bode well for someone who'd been given an entire dimension as a prison.

"The janitor's closet seems like the best bet." Kurikara shifted past Hiei, pausing in the doorway as an afterthought. "Do you want a weapon? I've still got a trowel from the weird kid stashed under the mattress."

Hiei didn't call out to the departing Sai, though he did give the man a nod. He had been helpful earlier that day, and that was enough to make him tolerable in the demon's eyes, if only temporarily. More important than that, however, was that Kurikara and Hiei both would soon be on their own way, and the quicker, the better.

It was for another reason that Hiei shook his head at the offer of the weapon, however. "I'll wait for a sword." The demon was more than confident at even his unarmed abilities, including the painfully limited Jagan powers he possessed. Besides, Hiei still had his pride, and the thought of waving a baby shovel around didn't sit well with him.

"Let's go since you've decided."

Kurikara shrugged. Hiei could take care of himself, and the dragon had one of his swords back. Even injured, they should be fine for a supply run.

He ducked out the door and broke into a run. Hiei should be able to keep up easily.
