Dayshift 32: Doctor's Office 3 (Dr. Muraki)

It was always a little bit awkward for new patients to become accustomed to him. Muraki wasn't thrilled about the meeting himself, intriguing as said patient was. Ken was annoyed. A nurse had come and dragged him away from Yohji, only to tell him he had 'therapy.' Any idea of therapy in this place had to be a joke.

He wordlessly sat in the chair across the desk from the man, waiting for him to say something.

Muraki didn't wait for Andrew's obvious annoyance to translate into stern silence. He offered a small, cordial smile. "Good afternoon, Mr. Witte. I apologize for the timing of our session - it can't be helped. I trust you had the chance to eat something."

There had been enough time. If Andrew had chosen to ignore his lunch, Muraki was hardly responsible.

Ken waved it off--both the greeting and the apology. "Whatever. It's fine." He didn't make any fuss over the name, either. He wasn't going to be able to change anyone's mind about that, he suspected. He knew who he was, and that was enough.

"So you know my name, want to let me in on what yours is, Doc?"

The doctor inclined his head. "Kazutaka Muraki. As you know, I'll be your therapist for a while. Did you have any questions before we begin?"

It was standard procedure by now but Muraki watched carefully for any reaction to his name. He had been careful with his toys, but not especially so.
