[Scoobies + Bella's epic field day: readystartgo]

Taking his pick between sun and no sun wasn't that hard of a choice, really. Angel ended up in the Sun Room on a couch near the back, facing the entrance to keep an eye on anyone coming in. And by the window. The window and its resulting sunlight was important ( Read more... )

If there was one thing this asylum'd taught him, it was: prepare for a crash landing well in advance. He couldn't say with confidence if things were looking up just yet, but it seemed they'd reached the point of compromise for the time being. Least that cleared the runway.

Folding the map and clenching it in the palm of his hand, he glanced around, lip curving upward. Hard to believe Landel's talk of building an army could actually become a reality if the patients put their minds to it. The more he dwelled on the facts they had so far, the quicker Dean understood the magnitude of the task ahead. Extra care'd have to be taken to ensure he kept his and Sam's ass alive while working the case, cover as much ground as humanly possible in the mean time.

It wasn't a long time after spotting Diva that he saw her aim a kick at a stranger's stomach, and this removed him from his pensive state.

"Hey, HEY!" He moved quickly, stopping by Diva's end of the couch. "What're you-?! ..." He scratched the back of his head, grimacing at the redhead and raising an apologetic hand. The man then crouched to the floor, lowering himself to Diva's level. "Don't," he sternly muttered to her, giving her shoulder a tight squeeze and making sure his gaze didn't wander from hers. "They'll catch you."

A human, yelling at her; that wasn't new. (His words made some sort of sense--They'll catch you--which was his only saving grace from having told her no.) A human hand jiggling her, though, that was less familiar. Her smaller, seemingly weaker hand came up and covered his, grabbing him back in the same firm hold, whether to push his hand away or throw it away.

Diva didn't get to decide. The burning, hungry man was replying back with violence, leaping up at her, and that was something she knew. Something she knew well. Although she had time to move, or do something before Heat came down on her, she didn't.

Not angry nor frightened. What reason did she have to feel either?

For crying out loud, he'd only been here two seconds.

He threw Diva's hand off as this other guy came flying down the inside. Dean jumped to his feet, eyes fixed on the redhead, the pounce and its swiftness a pretty jarring surprise. Without thinking, he dug a foot into the edge of a lounge cushion and grabbed the attacker's shoulders from behind, attempting to tug him in the opposite direction, away from the target. The grip wasn't friendly, and neither was the grunt that escaped as he tried to slide an arm around the man's neck.

To top it all off, he had to be discreet about it. And it wasn't like the girl'd lift a finger to help. Why couldn't she thump the freak now?

Everywhere she went there was violence and blood and an outburst of some kind, a distraction. Like a random fireworks show that would interrupt the night's festivities. But never before had a human jumped to her defence during one of these conflicts, and Diva found herself rather bemused by it, because the man was, in fact, struggling with all his might to keep a hold on Heat, to spare her from harm.

Even if she was pretending to be the doll... How very strange. It was not something she had experienced before.

When he came snapping at her like an animal of some kind, his teeth found purchase in the softest part of her neck. She didn't even blink. Ooh, thank goodness she wasn't wearing nice clothes... For in the next moment she jerked her head away, tearing her own skin, and immediately brought the heel of her palm to his face with her abnormal strength, aiming to crush delicate facial bones and knock him back.

After the events of yesterday morning, the nurse was hardly unprepared to deal with the slightest spot of trouble. But even she wasn't fast enough to make it across the room, a pair of orderlies following close by, to prevent a patient from actually biting another despite being restrained by yet a third patient. At least Mr. Patterson appeared to be trying to help, even though she felt it would've been best if he'd remained uninvolved.

"Mr. Freeman!" She slid in swiftly between the girl and the male patient, sedating him with a quick movement that suggested she'd done this far too many times. It was disheartening, really.

"Please release him, Mr. Patterson. We can take care of it from here." She turned to the girl last, examining her wound. "Are you all right, dear?" she asked, before her voice turned firm. "But next time, you should know better than to resort to violence in return."

Dean's eyes, shut tight in exertion, flew open at the wet sound of flesh being torn into. ... Uh, OK, well, obviously he hadn't seen that one coming. Abhorrence swept his features, and an increased loathing in his gut alongside the appearance of a weary smirk usually meant he'd stumbled on a good piece of news.

He'd found his next hunt.

The instant the needle went in, Dean released the guy he so wanted to place in an iron grip right now. "Be my guest," he breathed, carrying himself a few steps rearward with his chest puffed out and a hand already extended to the side - to stop his nurse from dragging him to lunch by the ear.

Diva brushed two of her fingertips over the wound in her throat, considering Heat with new eyes. The people around her cease to matter, when she only had eyes for his ravenous, clumsy self. He'd swallowed her blood, the blood of a Queen. Lifeblood for Chiroptera and changing a weak fool into a strong one.

"Mm, tonight," she finally agreed. "Don't be late."

But what did it mean, giving blood to one who was already like her, but not?

Amshel might have been surprised that Diva could have such a logical thought, however there was much Amshel could never guess. She just stuck her blood fingers in her mouth, cleaning them with a soft tongue. She wanted to watch and see what would happen.
